In the mechanisms that are used in everyday life by a person, it is often possible to find such a detail as a bearing. They exist in systems of both household appliances and industrial ones. The bearing housing is part of the component assembly. It can be of different shapes, varieties and sizes. To better understand its device, it is necessary to study the bearing housing. Self-repair of many types of equipment will become clearer and more efficient. If desired, the bearing housing can be created by hand.

Bearing, sliding and other bearing housings are made of high quality materials. This can be cast iron, pressed or stamped steel, synthetic rubber.

In the modern market of bearing assemblies elements of the mechanism of imported production prevail. Their popularity is explained by the increasing number of different foreign equipment. It requires, during the operation of bearings, nodes of a certain type that our production does not produce.

Types of housings

There is a certain classification of shells for bearings. Each type differs in its purpose, attachment method, configuration and size. The standard today are such varieties:

  • Stationary ones;
  • Stationary detachable;
  • Flanged.

A single stationary type of hull is made of pure nickel, which makes it more rigid and simple. Axial landing of bearings in the body has a complicated axial type of installation. Therefore, such a variety is used in slow-moving mechanisms that have a small shaft diameter.

A detachable fixed casing is made of gray cast iron. It consists of a lid and a base. These housing elements are bolted together. This design allows you to easily change the bearing when it is worn, make a secondary boring insert, and adjust the clearance. This is a common type of hull in mechanical engineering.

The flanged housing is similar to the previous type. It consists of a base and a lid, bolted together. It is used for very demanding parts. It serves as a support for both the end and through shaft.

Features of operation

The bearing housing must provide the entire assembly with the required operating parameters. It operates at high loads and should not create an increased noise level. Extreme operating conditions of the unit should not reduce the durability of the hull and the entire mechanism.

The body has a spherical shape for the installation of the bearing itself. This allows the elements of the mechanism to be installed independently. Between the bearing and the body are installed oil-repellent seals made of rubber in the form of rings.

Features of fastening to the body

There are several types of bearing fitment on the shaft in the body of the unit. The most common of these today are the technologies described below.

One of the most common is the bearing in the body on the paws. It has the ability to lubricate and is involved in the creation of high-speed mechanisms. It can be fans, emergency power-saving systems, flywheels. Their distinctive feature is the ability to work at elevated temperatures.

The inner ring can also be fixed to the shaft by means of locking screws. There are shells whose inner ring has a conical hole. The part is fixed in it with the aid of an adapter sleeve.

There are also cases in which the installed product is fixed with a special eccentric ring.

Advantages of non-lubricated and lubricated casings

Today, manufacturers produce both lubricated and non-lubricated bearing housings. The bearing housing, the drawing of which is designed for standard re-lubricated units, has an oil can.

Advantages of non-refilled auxiliary casings include maintenance savings, compact design. In such details there is no possibility of oil leakage. This leads to increased cleanliness of the part.

Re-lubricated casings are operated at high temperatures and in a high dust content of the environment. If it is not possible to use the part with a lid, such a unit is used in conditions of splashing water or other liquids on it.

If the use of such a case is irregular, the bearing will work properly. Such details are applied at the accelerated course of the unit, with increased loads and the need to reduce noise during operation.

Manufacturers and markings

Depending on the type of the manufacturer, there is a certain marking of the parts. If this is not a bearing housing created by its own hands, it will necessarily have a designation of the corresponding company that created it.

There are a lot of brands, but the following manufacturers are considered popular today:

  • China and Singapore produce parts marked FBJ.
  • The Italian elements of the mechanism for bearings can be marked as KDF or TSC.
  • Japan marks its corps as ASAHI or NSK.
  • SKF products are so expensive that it is almost never found in the equipment of our country.

The price of such products depends on the manufacturer and, as a rule, the higher the quality of the item itself. The cheapest, but short-lived are the Polish and Russian buildings, the higher the quality of the presented details by the Japanese. Further higher reliability and cost have the sites of Italian production, followed by Serbian mechanisms. The most reliable, but very expensive, are German and Swedish, as well as some Japanese (NTN, KOYO) bearing housings.

Marking of the housing depending on the design

The bearing housing can be marked with a different marking depending on the type of unit. Manufactured for radial parts that are installed in flange assemblies, the mechanism is attached with set screws. The bearing in them is designated UC, and the case for them is F, P, T, FL, FC. If this node is connected together, the part will look like UCP, UCT, UCFL.

For bearing structures, the body is designated as SD, and the bearing itself is SN.

Buy these products better with the direct representative of a particular manufacturer. This guarantees the quality of the parts purchased.

Self-made bearing housing

Make the body for the bearing with your own hands is not so difficult. The only thing, it will differ for obvious reasons from the factory sample. Therefore, if the greater strength and precision of the part does not matter, this is quite a feasible task.

A good material for making the case is graphitized caprolon. It is characterized by increased wear resistance, strength and slip. To cut out a hole it is necessary, having clamped a material in a vice. With a drill, a knife and a file, a smooth hole should be made in the caprolon.

Insert the sliding gasket inwards. The body is better to make a cut and clamp it with a screw on the shaft. The thinner the hole, the better the part will work.

It happens that the body is made of wood. The ring is made from sectors that are then pulled together. This automatically compensates for the play of the bearing.

Having considered the varieties and the device of such a detail as the bearing housing, one can understand the principle of its operation and perform independent repair of quite a large number of equipment at home.
