Beach is a word in which high and low are mixed. The meaning, interpretation and examples

The word "scourge" is a homonym. By this name are listed two concepts that are not that diametrically opposed, but are two different entities. On the one hand, the scourge is an object, and on the other hand, a person. Let's consider both that, there were no questions.

Beach - the subject

Let's start with the inanimate, then go to the person. The latter we will pay a little more attention, because the soul must have priority. If you look at the explanatory dictionary, then he will tell us that the word "scourge" has the following meanings:

  1. Whip, whip, long whip. The trainer in the circus deftly wields a scourge.
  2. What causes disaster and disaster. This word is a high style in this sense. Livni is the scourge of the tropics.

Of course, you can scourge in a figurative sense. For example, "the writer ruthlessly uses his cynicism as a scourge, under the blows of which the vices of time can not stand." A slightly Soviet example left, but hopefully the reader understood the scourge - what kind of tool is this.

Synonyms of the word "scourge" in its objective meaning

As always, we will look at analogues to facilitate understanding, although in part they are already given in meaning. But, as you know, repetition is the mother of learning. Here are the replacement words:

  • punishment;
  • a curse;
  • The whip;
  • whip;
  • whip.

The harvest is not rich, but the main thing is not quantity, but quality. The main goal must be achieved, and it is, in fact, reminded to understand the essence of the word "scourge". This is something for which we are trying, not sparing our strength.

Another, "human" meaning

Homonyms are similar to twin brothers, who are well aware of their relationship and therefore try not to be anything like their relative, except for appearance. If you let go and include fantasy, you can imagine that people and words are affected by the same energy - the resistance force, so they are filled with different content.

In another sense, the scourge is a person without certain occupations and shelter. The same as the homeless. Do you know the difference between a homeless man and a scourge? You'll never guess. Homelessness is an acronym and stands for "without a fixed place of residence". The reader will ask: "Why is the word" vagabond "written in lower case letters in this case?" The reader, with you it is pleasant to deal with, is an excellent question. The term was used even in the protocols of the Soviet militia, and therefore, has long lived in the language, so "homeless" can be written in lower case, like "high school", for example. What can I say, "there are strange rapprochement".

But our theme is: "The scourge is who?". Calm, everything will be clear. But we must consider the original meaning.

Origin. A sailor without a ship and a "former intelligent man"

Perhaps, it will sound slightly ridiculous and cynical, but they are not born as whips, they become. The question is, how? The word appeared as a response to the seamen hovering along the shore, who for some reason remained at home instead of boarding a ship. If we rephrase the well-known movie hero about which we will go further, they probably lost their boarding pass. Anyway, but eventually the scourge became just a tramp, without any connection to the beach, the sea shore and the romanticism sung by Jack London. And yes, considering that the beach is a "beach" in English, and our word is very similar to a tracing paper, then it probably came to us from the Foggy Albion or from across the ocean. But this is only the version.

Remember, we said that a homeless person is an abbreviation? So, the scourge is a backroom. The term means a set of words, with the help of which an acronym is created. It is interesting that the object of impact was not an abbreviation, or the acronym had a different meaning initially. Of course, without examples it is difficult to understand something. Here they are:

  1. HIGH SCHOOL (Sign Out Successfully Married).
  2. BEACH (Former Intelligent Man).
  3. SOS (Save Our Souls) - save our souls. Initially, the distress signal meant nothing, it was chosen for practical reasons: it was easy to tap Morse code.

Words are written in lower case, we wrote in capital letters for clarity. Of course, there are more indecent bacronimas, but out of respect for the reader we will not quote them here.

Concerning the concept of "scourge" we will say: it was not an abbreviation, folk fantasy is inexhaustible, and almost every person is not alien to linguistic creativity, even if it is rather simple.

An unexpected example of a scourge is Chance Boudreau from the film "The Difficult Target" (1993)

Naturally, the fans will protest, what is Chens-scourge? He looks good, stylishly dressed. Yes, all true, but do not forget that this is Hollywood - "dream factory". If you want to look at real homeless people, it's only necessary to go out or read Samuel Beckett, he has such a collection "First Love". It presents quite realistic pictures of homeless life, but everything is so naturalistic that we do not advise you to read the nervous.

But back to Censu. He, obviously, is a professional of high class, who stayed on the shore due to his adherence to principles. The hero even has military rewards. And such a person, ashamed to say, in a fairy-tale American life turned into a scourge. Such a message can be regarded as a certain position of the director. Even in the action movie contains an ideological part, which should not be ignored.

Of course, the development of events shows that Chance Budro is not at all a scourge, but in the beginning he is almost homeless.

Instant soup and scourge?

Now it's worth mentioning the question, but what about the scourge package? What is it? So called instant noodles: poured boiling water, waited 5 minutes - and ready.

There is an opinion that this food is called because it is eaten by poor students who do not have money for normal foods, hence the nickname. But, if it is allowed, we will offer another explanation. In active speech usage expression entered 12-15 years ago. Indeed, students bought the noodles, but not because they did not have the money, but because they were too lazy to cook ordinary food.

Therefore, the word "scourge" and its derivatives had a different, not dictionary meaning, the meaning of which exists only in a living colloquial speech: "the extremely low level of something, of any quality." For example, a scourge package combines low quality food and a minimal amount of desire for the "cook" to stir and cook something. In this sense, such adjectives are suitable as synonyms:

  • Miserable;
  • Beggarly;
  • poor;
  • Pathetic;
  • Insignificant.

All these definitions are used not only in their direct meaning, the spectrum of their portable meaning is also quite wide.
