Battery heating: how to choose?

Often when repairing an apartment or a house there is a need to buy heating batteries. Therefore, the question may arise which of them is the best. Due to the huge variety of appearance, shapes and materials, it is difficult to make the right choice. A person who is not burdened with knowledge of what a heating battery is, there can be problems, so it is necessary to thoroughly deal with this issue.

There are a number of parameters that characterize the operating conditions of the heating batteries. The main ones are the pressure in the system, the temperature of the coolant, and also the degree of its purity. The heating battery is available today in various variations, depending on this, there are very specific requirements for these parameters. If it is a private house, the coolant there is usually clean, of high quality, and the system is operated at a pressure of not more than three atmospheres. The temperature of the heat carrier usually does not exceed 95 degrees. If we talk about how to choose heating batteries for central heating systems, it should be noted that the coolant in this case is not too high quality, its temperature can be up to 120 degrees, and the working pressure is much higher than in private homes. These parameters affect the choice of radiators.

Heating battery, cast-iron

This type of radiator is used widely enough. Such batteries have a high level of heat capacity, which allows them to remain hot for a long time, even when the coolant is not heated. They are able to work at a temperature of +130 degrees. The working pressure for these radiators varies from 9 to 15 atmospheres.

Possess such batteries and certain disadvantages:

- afraid of hydraulic shocks;

- some models require preliminary drawing and painting.

If it is required to stabilize a given temperature regime in the room, then another drawback may be a large heat capacity.

Aluminum heating battery

Such radiators are characterized by excellent thermal conductivity and a low level of thermal inertia, and this allows them to actively use them to stabilize a certain temperature regime in the room. Such batteries look very attractive. They are issued in two types: conventional and reinforced. Conventional systems are used in systems where the working pressure is less than 6 atmospheres, that is, they can be installed in individual houses. The enhanced version assumes the possibility of operation at pressures up to 10 atmospheres. But they also have certain drawbacks:

- radiators are very susceptible to the purity of the coolant and its acidity level;

- at the junction with the steel pipe, the corrosion process may start;

- due to the tendency to gas formation in the system, air congestion can accumulate.

Heating battery steel

Such radiators can be used in heating systems for apartments and private houses. They can be operated at temperatures up to +120 degrees and working pressures of 6-10 atmospheres. These radiators have a small thermal inertia, they are afraid of a coolant of low quality. Among the shortcomings can be identified the following:

- impossibility to add additional sections;

- they are afraid of excess oxygen in the heating system.

With this information, you can choose the right radiators for your home or apartment.
