Bald dogs: a mistake of nature or her gift?

Even in the days of the Aztecs, breeds of dogs completely devoid of wool cover were known. Today these cute decorative bald dogs have found themselves a lot of fans who selflessly love a tender, defenseless, warm little skin.

Among all the breeds devoid of wool, the most famous are the following: naked terrier, Mexican naked, Chinese crested and Peruvian naked. And although they practically do not leave scraps of wool on the floor, they do not have an odor and fleas, it is quite troublesome to keep such animals.

You should take care of naked pets just like for young children. In summer, they should be lubricated with a moisturizing cream so that their tender skin does not burn. In winter, bald dogs need warm clothes and shoes, without which they can frostbite their legs or get sick. They need to be washed twice a week, as the skin without wool gets dirty very quickly.

For example, American bald terriers, by the way, the smallest dogs in the world, are very timid. Afraid of something, they sweat profusely. Therefore, they must be protected from stressful situations. They are very small, the growth at the withers is 25-35 cm, and weigh only 3-5 kg. Puppies are born, covered with hair, but they become bald in just one and a half to two months. Their skin has a different color, so you can see white, red, gray, pink and even spotty American terriers.

This animal has a very developed facial expression. All existing emotions bald dogs express on their muzzle: surprise, fright, sadness, joy and even a smile. And if they are dissatisfied with something, then they can grimace a touchy grimace.

This curious kid bribes his cheerfulness, energy and friendliness. He aspires to always be in the center of attention. It's easy to teach various tricks, he will be infinitely glad to perform them in front of the audience.

Small and elegant Chinese Crested - dogs are extremely affectionate, active and clean. On their body sometimes grow small shreds of wool, so they need epilation. Extra vegetation on their paws is removed with either a conventional depilatory cream or wax.

The diet of dogs without wool is the same as that of their common brethren, but more caloric, because they need more energy to not freeze, but maintain body temperature at the same level.

Bald dogs also have other developmental abnormalities, for example, an altered shape of the teeth or their absence. Modern genetics all this complex of symptoms is called ectodermal dysplasia. They believe that this disease of dogs is caused by a change in genes. Scientists say that nature laughed at animals, making them different from other breeds of dogs, changing only a few elementary "bricks" of DNA.

Although bald dogs are not very attractive externally, they are endowed with a kind and faithful heart. So, alive, vigilant and energetic terriers like the human society, and they willingly go with people to contact. Because they are very inquisitive, they are easy to train.

Mexican naked, or xolo, as it is also called, is very exotic in appearance. By nature, she is calm enough, quiet, intelligent and attentive. She has strong and dense skin, which almost does not suffer from sunburn, damage or insect bites. However, because of such properties it is very difficult to vaccinate and implant chips. A merry bald dog is considered a national treasure in Mexico.

The Peruvian naked (the Peruvian orchid of the Incas) is rarely found even at home. They are fast, affectionate, intelligent bald dogs, photos of which are decorated with albums of their owners. They love the home environment. Unfortunately, they almost never occur in Russia, because they do not tolerate the cold. In winter, these interesting animals lighten their skin, slowly become accustomed to the sun in the spring, and is exposed to sunburn in the summer.

According to scientists-geneticists, baldness in dogs, unlike a man, is not necessary to treat. It does not interfere with animals, but in humans it causes affection.
