During the car exhibition in Frankfurt in 2013, one of the most anticipated premieres was the hybrid version of the Porsche 918 Spyder 2015 model year. The successor of the car is the Carrera GT model. At the heart of the novelty is the carbon monocoque, while the body elements are made of composite materials. Compared with the debut three years earlier conceptual version, the car received a new optics and a slightly modified rear end. In addition, the designers installed new mirrors and wheel disks on it, and the exhaust system pipes were taken out directly from the engine casing.

Engine specifications

The car is set in motion by a hybrid powerplant, which consists of an atmospheric eight-cylinder engine with a volume of 4.6 liters, as well as two electric motors, each of which is located on one of the axles. Its total capacity is 887 horsepower. At the same time, it should be noted that the lion's share (namely, 608 "horses") develops precisely due to the first unit. Despite such impressive figures Porsche 918 Spyder, the characteristics of the main competitors of the model, which appeared a little earlier, were more serious. In particular, according to official information, the power of hybrid motors from McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari was 916 and 963 horsepower respectively.

Advantages over competitors

Whatever the case, Porsche representatives emphasize that their model is more technological and economical, and the speed of the car significantly exceeds the performance of competitors on bends. According to them, this was achieved due to active aerodynamics of the car, low center of gravity, adaptive suspension and fully controlled chassis, the feature of which is the ability to rotate the rear wheels to an angle of up to three degrees. In the fifth series of the 21st season of the world-famous and one of the most authoritative telecasts associated with exclusive cars - "Top Gear" - the Porsche 918 Spyder was tested by Richard Hammond. Based on the results of the arrivals on one of the Abu Dhabi trails, the expert named the model more technologically advanced, compared to the same McLaren P1. This application contributed to faster acceleration, removable roof and some other characteristics.

Model motion parameters

The car uses a robotic gearbox with seven stages, called the PDK. On the acceleration from the point to the mark in the 100 km / h car requires only 2.6 seconds of time, up to 200 km / h - 7.2 seconds, up to 300 km / h - 19.9 seconds. The high-speed maximum for the Porsche 918 is 344 km / h. At the request of the customer provides an opportunity to purchase an additional package of options - Weissach, which provides much better dynamic characteristics of the car. With regard to consumption, the hybrid mode of motion of the model requires an average of 3.3 liters for every hundred kilometers of run. It should be noted that before reaching such an indicator, the main competitors of the model are still very far away.

Modes of operation

There are five modes of operation for the motor. Their switching is carried out by means of the special button located on a rudder. At the first of them (it is called "E-Power") Porsche 918 is powered exclusively by electric traction. In this case, the car is able to drive a distance of about thirty kilometers without additional charging. The maximum speed of the machine is 130 km / h. With the activation of the second mode ("Hybrid"), the car, depending on the traffic situation, "at its discretion" uses electric motors and an internal combustion engine. At the same time, priority is given to the maximum reduction in fuel consumption. The third program is called the "Sport Hybrid". Its peculiarity consists in the fact that the gasoline engine is constantly used, while the electrical installations are connected only to ensure better dynamics. The next version of the movement ("Race Hybrid") also permanently uses an internal combustion engine. At the same time, the system does not support a constant charge in two electrical installations, which, during the acceleration of the car, give off all their power. The "Hot Lap" mode is the most extreme of all. With its application, all the resources and potential that the model Porsche 918 has, are involved as much as possible.

An interesting feature of the novelty was that its active aerodynamics behaves differently, depending on the used driving mode. At the same time, the car's systems are tuned in such a way that the clamping force is increased at high speeds and the drag level is reduced at small speeds.

Cost

Representatives of the company-manufacturer decided to release 918 copies of this car. As for the cost of the Porsche 918 Spyder, the price of the car abroad starts from the mark of 645 thousand euros. For Russia, a quota of seven cars is installed, for each of which buyers will have to pay out for 991 thousand euros. Even despite such an impressive cost, according to official information, an advance payment has already been received for one of the cars from our country.
