Asus Geforce 210: overview of the video card

Asus Geforce 210 video card is an ultrabudgetary solution for assembling computers intended for office use. She got a minimum of video memory, a passive cooling system, and most importantly - a low cost. It is advisable to purchase a chip only if the processor does not have built-in graphics. Asus Geforce 210 is not capable of giving advanced performance, so as a game solution it will not work. The advantages of the video card include silent operation and a wide range of interfaces for connection.

Packing and equipment

Asus Geforce 210 is sold in a small cardboard box. It is executed in black color, with colored drawings. On the front side there is a manufacturer's logo and the main technical parameters. Here you can see that the model is designed to build compact HTPC.

In the box, in addition to the video card itself, there is a disk with drivers and instructions. On one of the facets of the accelerator there is a set of interfaces: D-Sub, HDMI, DVI-I. Appearance

The Asus Geforce 210 is manufactured on the basis of a low-profile printed circuit board of blue color. The length of the model is slightly more than 170 mm, height - about 70 mm. Small dimensions allow to install the video card even in small cases.

The power of the accelerator is divided into two subsystems. The first is responsible for the graphics processor, the second - for video memory. The elements are on the front and back sides, where there are bolts for fixing the cooling system.

Characteristics

A 3D accelerator based on a 40-nm graphics processor from Nvidia was made. It includes sixteen CUDA cores, eight texture cores and four rasterization blocks. The chip clock frequency is 589 MHz.

The Asus Geforce 210 has 1GB of video memory, made by the type of GDDR3. The production of chips is handled by SK Hynix. However, the real memory is only 512 MB, the expansion to 1 GB is due to a special technology that takes 512 MB from RAM. To transfer information using a simple 64-bit bus, the bandwidth which is 9.6 GB per second.

Cooling

The cooling system ASUS GeForce 210 is a small size radiator made of aluminum. It is executed in the standard form of edges. Such a system ensures quiet operation even at high loads. In stress tests, the video card did not heat above 68 degrees. The indicator is quite good considering the cooling system without an active element. In the standard mode of operation (office programs, watching movies, web surfing), the temperature is much lower. In this case, the video card does not heat above 50 degrees. In general, the cooling system leaves a positive impression. Despite the design, it completely copes with its duties, remaining silent.

Testing

The video card was tested in conjunction with an Intel Core i7-4770K processor. During the tests, it was found that the integrated graphics chip HD Graphics 4600 was much more productive than the ASUS GeForce 210. Even in games, the core outpaces the discrete graphics card.

Performance ASUS GeForce 210 enough to work with text editors, many programs and old games. It does not play bad video in HD, it does a good job with browser games. More demanding games, even in conjunction with other powerful components will not work. Therefore, in this case, a more logical solution will be the purchase of a more productive graphics accelerator.
