Aquaristics as a hobby

Throughout history, a person has been interested in the underwater world, animals that live under water and plants. The underwater world has always been inaccessible to humans and that is why it was being manipulated there.

Only recently did a man have aqualungs, submarines and other equipment that allows you to study the underwater world in complete safety for life. But despite all this, people have long learned to create at home a small part of the underwater world.

A few thousand years ago the Egyptians kept in their ponds various Nile fish that differ in unusual color and behavior. There are even murals that show that in Pompeii in the living rooms there were swimming pools with fish.

The Aztec king of Montezuma also had aquariums in the chambers. All this shows the eternal interest of people in the underwater world and an attempt at least a little closer to it. The science of aquaristics reached its greatest development in the ancient eastern countries: Japan, China, Korea and Siam. Of these countries, glory and goldfish diverged.

The most ancient information about aquarium art can be found in China, even in the 6th century BC. At that time, they were already beginning to be kept as decorative animals in the house. Images of fish are found on many emblems of noble families. Red fish were generally considered sacred. But the greatest heyday aquarium reached in the 14-16 century in China. Approximately then all the main aquarium fish breeds appeared. The centers of fish breeding have become large cities of China. Water for ancient aquariums was taken from numerous ponds and of course was cleaned and specially prepared.

The famous goldfish is man-made and can not be found in nature. For a long time, the selectors chose the brightest fishes and crossed them. So gradually, step by step, a great many breeds of aquarium fish were created. There are rumors of fish, with extremely long tails and fins that were grown specifically for the palaces of Chinese emperors.

One of the most important parameters for fish is their color and it is first of all drawn to it, since it immediately attracts attention of both the buyer and the breeder. A lot of aquarists, in addition to various exotic fish, also have their own freshwater fish and sea fish. Some fish are even able to determine what the weather is expected for the next few days.

The greatest distribution of aquaristics was in the 19th century. At the same time, the first marine aquarium exhibition was organized. A few years later in London there is a large London aquarium. Also, aquariums installed in Paris were very successful. In the 19th century, aquarium art began to develop in Russia, in the 70th year in Russia appears the first community of aquarists. In the 20th century, various books and magazines on aquarium art began to be published which significantly influenced the development of this art. After the Second World War, aquarium art quickly began to recover.

Breeding fish is a great hobby that helps a person during stress, develops his will, endurance and patience. Fish do not tolerate haste and here one must be very careful, since any wrong action can be dangerous for the life of a fish. So first decide if you need a similar hobby.
