The drug "Terzhinan" belongs to the category of antimicrobial combination medicines. The medication is used in gynecology locally. A remedy is available in the form of vaginal tablets. The drug has antiprotozoal and antimicrobial effects, exhibits anti-inflammatory and antifungal effect. The drug contains nystatin, neomycin sulfate, prednisolone and ternidazole. The latter component is an imidazole derivative. The substance has an antifungal effect. The mechanism of its activity is based on inhibition of the synthesis of the constituent element of the membrane of the fungal cell. As a result, its properties change. Ternidazole also has a trichomonacid effect, shows activity against anaerobes, gardnerella in particular. Neomycin is part of the group of aminoglycoside antibiotics. The substance shows bactericidal action against strains of gram-negative and gram-positive pathogenic microflora. Nystatin is a polyene antibiotic with antifungal activity. This component is highly effective against Candida yeast-like fungi. The substance has the ability to change the permeability of cell membranes, to slow their growth. Prednisolone has a pronounced anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effect, has an antiexudative effect.
