Anembrionia: causes, symptoms, treatment

The vice of development of pregnancy, in which a fetal egg that attaches to the uterus, does not contain an embryo, is called anembryonia. The reasons for this phenomenon have not been studied for a long time. With the advent of modern diagnostic devices, it was possible to reveal in more detail the deviations that led to the absence of an embryo.

Anembrion can occur when the embryo does not begin to form in the fetal egg, or when it stops in its development. Therefore, in the old fashion, anembrionia is called a frozen pregnancy. As a rule, such deviations occur in the first six weeks of embryonic development.

Anembrionia - the causes of

Pathology is more likely to something accidental in the life of a woman than to regularity. It can not be said that at the first frozen pregnancy all the subsequent ones will end also deplorably. Almost all women who had previously frozen pregnancy, then give birth to healthy babies.

Anembrion, whose symptoms are very difficult to observe, looks like a normal pregnancy. Women feel signs of toxicosis, the uterus slightly increases in size, the mammary glands swell, menstruation does not occur. Usually at this stage, the woman turns to the gynecology department to confirm or deny the pregnancy. With the help of ultrasound, doctors can establish whether there is an embryo in the fetal egg, and if so, whether it is developing correctly.

In some women, the body itself responds to anembrion, and miscarriage occurs. That is, the immune system identified an empty fetal egg as a foreign body and spontaneously expelled it.

To date, it is believed that anembrion, the causes of which are quite diverse, can arise due to a number of violations. First, the genetic prerequisites are placed at the forefront, that is, if the chromosome set is incorrect in parents, such a pregnancy can be doomed to failure. Also anembrion may occur due to changes in the parental cells of the parents. For example, a healthy egg and pathological spermatozoon can merge and vice versa, which also leads in most cases to fetal death in the early stages of development.

In other cases of the emergence of such a pathology as anembrion, the reasons are external effects on the embryo. For example, it can be infectious diseases, transferred by the mother at an early stage of pregnancy; The effect of toxic substances, radiation; Hormonal failures; Bad habits (the use of alcohol, drugs).

Of course, for every woman it is important to keep a pregnancy, so if you suspect anembrion, you need to conduct a series of studies in order not to make a mistake with the diagnosis. Usually the absence of an embryo is indicated by the small size of the uterus, although it is estimated that it should be longer. Further, an ultrasound is performed that indicates the presence or absence of the embryo. And another indicator is the chorionic gonadotropin. With a frozen pregnancy, its numbers also correspond to the low index characteristic of the week on which the embryo died.

With this pathology of pregnancy development, as anembrion, treatment requires an integrated approach. Unfortunately, for a woman with a frozen pregnancy there is only one way out - scraping the uterus and removing the fetal egg in order to avoid complications. If the period is short, then a medical abortion is performed . However, do not despair after these procedures. First of all, it is recommended to restore the uterine mucosa for subsequent normal pregnancy. For this purpose, a number of drugs and vitamin complexes are prescribed. Recovery usually takes three to six months, during which the woman should be protected. If repeated cases of miscarriage are repeated, then more detailed diagnosis and treatment is required.
