Faddy Boxer

Golota is the only professional Polish boxer who throughout his career fought for all the major titles (WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF), but none has ever won. The boxer gained great popularity due to eccentric tricks in the ring. He also became famous in two battles with American Riddick Bow, in which he won on points, inflicted banned low blows, due to what twice was disqualified.

Ran out of Poland

In 1990, the Polish boxer fought with Peter Bialostoski in one of the pubs of the city of Wloclawek (Poland). Golota was charged with attack and beating, and the Polish athlete fled the country, because he could receive 5 years in prison. Later it turned out that Andrzej Golota married a US citizen of Polish descent and lives in the city of Chicago.

Andrzej Golota: fighting at a professional level

In 1992, the Polish boxer began to perform at a professional level. The first opponent of Andrzej was Roosevelt Schuler, whom he defeated by TKO in Round 3. In the period from 1992 to 1995, KO won the following opponents: Eddie Taylor, Bobby Crabtree and Terry Davis. Also, the American Marion Wilson (twice) was defeated on points and the Pole Samson Pole.

In the battle with Samson Poukha, Golota conceded for four rounds. Opponent more than once conducted a series of successful panche, after which Andrzej received a knockdown. At the beginning of the fifth round, Golota in the clinch bit his opponent by the shoulder (after a year and a half Mike Tyson bit off Evander Holyfield's ear ). In the same round Golota stepped up and knocked Samson Poukhu three times. As a result, the referee stopped the fight and awarded the victory to Andrzej.

In 1994, Golota fought with Jeff Lampkin and won, due to the fact that the rival surrendered.

Why did Andrew Golota run away from the ring in battle with the "Iron Mike"?

In October 2000, the Polish boxer met in a duel with the legendary and experienced Mike Tyson. This fight was remembered by the boxing community called "Disassembly in Motown" (the place of the battle). In the first round, Mike immediately rushed to attack the Polish soldier. It was noticeable that Andrzej Golota was not ready for this pace. At the end of the first round, Mike Tyson inflicted the strongest hook-shaped right-hand blow to Andrzej's jaw, after which, having received a dissection of the left eyebrow, he did not keep his balance and fell. Despite this, the Polish boxer quickly got up and continued the fight. Until the end of the round there were only a few seconds, and Tyson wanted to end the fight by knockout, but Andrzej managed to survive.

In the second round, Mike Tyson started again, and went to attack his opponent. Golota, in turn, tried to clinch and tie his hands to the "KO of the KO" in order to reduce the risk of his powerful blows. The second round was also behind Mike.

In a break between the first and third round, the Polish boxer refused to continue the fight. Coaching angle Golota persuaded the boxer to enter the ring and continue the fight, but he flatly did not want to do it. As a result, boxer Andrzej Golota fled the ring. On the way to the locker room, the fans sitting next to the passage began to whistle the Pole and throw plastic cups and bottles at him. Near the very entrance to it came a bank with a red drink that spread all over the body. The enraged Mike Tyson, who missed another early knockout victory, was held by several people, so that he did not rush to the opponent after the fiasco.

Effects

Such kind of conflicts in world boxing were not yet. After these incidents, representatives of a sports channel called Showtime announced that they would not be able to skip the broadcast of Andrzej Golota, because he was a coward. Post-match doping control showed that the "Iron Mike" found traces of marijuana, in connection with which the fight was declared invalid. Upon the arrival of the Polish boxer to the hospital, he was diagnosed with a concussion, a fracture of the left cheekbone and an intervertebral hernia in the 4th and 5th cervical section. Apparently, the aforementioned ailments were the reason for Golota to make such a decision. After the fight with Mike Tyson, Andrzej Golota dropped out of boxing for three years.
