Amoxicillin and alcohol are life-threatening combination
Antibiotics are organic compounds that are synthesized by bacteria and fungi. Drugs of this series are capable of suppressing or killing other microorganisms.
Quite often in medical practice apply antibiotics penicillin series. These include a well-known pharmacological agent called Amoxicillin.
It is an antibacterial agent of a wide spectrum of action, characterized by bactericidal action on staphylococci and streptococci, Neisseria, Shigella, Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella. When it is combined with the drug "Metronidazole" bactericidal activity against Helicobacter pylori, bacterium, which is considered to be the main etiological factor in the development of peptic ulcer, is traced.
So, it is the allergic reaction to antibiotics that is the most common side effect in the treatment of various pathologies. This disappointing statistics is worsened by patients who do not comply with the dosage or take these drugs incorrectly, combining them with the intake of alcoholic beverages, which in some cases leads to serious disorders in the body.
The drug "Amoxicillin" and alcohol
In the instruction to the drug it is indicated that when using metronidazole simultaneously, alcohol consumption is not recommended. This is due to the fact that the combination of an antibiotic and the drug "Metronidazole" can provoke nausea and vomiting, which is greatly enhanced by the simultaneous use of even a small amount of beer or wine, not to mention stronger drinks. But is it really possible under other conditions to use the "Amoxicillin" and alcohol - a safe combination?
Immediately it should be said that ethyl alcohol is able to change the pharmacological action of any drug - to strengthen it, inhibit or completely distort it. This also applies to antibiotics. When they are combined with this alcohol, the risk of allergy increases several times.
It all depends on the individual characteristics of patients and the presence of their increased sensitization (sensitivity).
Severe allergic manifestations in the form of anaphylactic shock can develop in a few minutes after the simultaneous administration of this drug and any alcoholic beverage. In this case, the patient develops skin itching, hives, Quincke's edema, severe bronchospasm and a sharp drop in blood pressure, which can threaten the life of patients. Therefore, in cases where the drug "Amoxicillin" is prescribed, alcohol should become a strict taboo at the time of treatment.
In addition, in the form of side effects may occur serum syndrome or drug fever. These pathologies are rather difficult. Given these facts, we can say with confidence that the drug "Amoxicillin" and alcohol - an unacceptable and very dangerous combination.
