A package is what? How to sew a pack: a master class

A pack is an important element of beautiful women's clothing. Products decorated with them can be found in the cabinet of every fashionista and become favorites of many designers.

But still, what is it? How did this decor element come about, how is it used and how can you decorate your items with it?

Definition

A pack is a small shiny disk, often made of colored metallized foil or plastic, used to decorate women's clothing, accessories and for finishing theatrical costumes. Necessarily has a hole for sewing to the fabric. The shape can be not only round, there are square, oval sequins, and also in the form of flowers or leaves. They are not only flat, but also concave.

There is evidence that Indian silver saris were decorated with small rounds of pure gold as far back as 2500 BC, similar disks were found in Egyptian tombs. Some theories argue that the pack is a descendant of small coins that are sewn to clothing. This was done not only to demonstrate their wealth, but also to keep it with them all the time. It was also believed that the brilliance of precious metals drives away evil spirits. Therefore, it can not be said that a pack is a modern invention. But, of course, over time it changed a lot.

Paillettes embroidered clothes crowned individuals, and in the 1920s. They were at the height of fashion. But wearing a sparkling dress was not easy - after all, then the glossy disks were made only of metal, and the weight of the suit was significant. Soon there appeared light sequins of gelatin, but when they got warm or got wet - and they melted.

This was a serious drawback, so the search for the optimal solution continued. In the 40-ies of the XX century, sequins appeared on the basis of film for photography, and in the 60's - from vinyl.

In the Russian language, the name "pathetka" (paillette) came from the French word paillette - "zolotinka".

How to sew the patches manually

How to decorate the most simple shirt or dress? Of course, adding her brilliance. But it's not so simple. Do you know how to sew handmade parchments so that they lay flat and securely fastened? It's worth spending some time to understand the process and do not do it all twice. For work you will need:

  • Paet.
  • Beads.
  • Thin needle.
  • Strong thread. Its color should be selected not in the tone of the fabric, but in tone to the paillettes, so that it is as inconspicuous as possible. Sometimes a transparent nylon thread is used.
  • Fabric-base (felt in the example).
  • Scissors.
  • A marker for the fabric. If you need to sew sequins in a certain order, then it is better to first outline the contour of the pattern.
  • Clasp for brooch (optional).

Master Class

You can sew the sutures in two main ways: with a bead and without. On an example of a charming brooch made of felt we'll look at both ways.

  1. Secure the thread with the knot from the inside. In the photo it is made very large to be seen.
  2. Bring the needle to the front side, thread the palette and bead. You will get a loop that will secure both elements in place.
  3. Pull the thread and again make a knot on the wrong side. This is to ensure that each packet is fixed separately. So, if the thread breaks somewhere in the process of socks or washing, all your sparkles will not sprinkle one after another.
  4. Now fix the decorative element without the bead. We remove the needle on the front side, put on the stick and make a stitch from the center to the edge. Repeat the operation, otherwise the circle will shift. For greater reliability, make three stitches.
  5. Now we close all free space with mesh, we make one more heart for the wrong side, we sew the clasp - and we can collect the brooch.

Brilliant output

Fabric with pawns allows you to create luxurious outfits that attract the eye. But also from it you can make small decorative elements that diversify even a simple everyday thing, like, for example, this sweater.

Such a fabric can be of different types, depending on the type of base (organza, taffeta, tulle, net, etc.) and on how and what patches are sewn:

  • In the form of scales;
  • In scattered order;
  • Only in certain places of the pattern;
  • Single color or multi-colored, etc.

Features of working with cloth

  • Give preference to simple, concise silhouettes with a minimum of stitches. This is caused not only by the fact that it is difficult to work with a fabric, but also because a complex cut will overload the image and distract attention from the glitter of sequins.
  • Carefully lay out the fabric before you begin to cut. Be sure to arrange the patches in one direction and face down. You can not cut two parts at the same time. Also, in the process of work you will have a lot of fragments of the pacifiers, so lay the fabric or film for ease of cleaning and put on your glasses so as not to damage your eyes. Leave at least 2 cm as an allowance for the seams. Paets quickly blunt scissors, so do not use your loved ones.
  • Thin soft sequins can be sewn with a thick sewing needle.
  • If the packs are made of dense material, then it is better to sweep the seams and cut them along this line, so that the sewing process is quick and costless without broken needles. But do not cut the thread that holds them, but cut the plastic rounds themselves. It is also desirable to put on glasses when working.
  • Sew slowly, with a zigzag stitch. Never use an overlock.
  • If, on the seam line, you have formed bald spots, cut off the fleece from the spare piece of fabric and wash them manually, where required. If some sparkles are bent and stick out, cut them off with small scissors.
  • When ironing the seams, be extremely careful: the packs are made of plastic and can easily melt, so set the iron to a low temperature and use a cotton pad.
  • Most likely, the seams will be unpleasant to the touch, so make a lining.

Sparkling floristics

Flowers from the flowers can be of a very different level of complexity: from luxurious for evening and dance suits to basic ones, with which you can decorate and the children's bezel.

Let's make a big flower barrette. In white, she can decorate even the wedding hairstyle.

Materials:

  • Paet.
  • Silvery seed beads.
  • Paper for the pattern.
  • Base fabric.
  • A piece of satin and tulle.
  • Scallop for hair clips.
  • Embroidery frame.
  • A marker for the fabric.
  • Glutinous web.
  • Needle.
  • Transparent kapron thread.
  • Glue gun or glue on the fabric.
  • Decorative element of rhinestones, beads in tone.
  • Scissors.

We make a hairpin-flower: a master-class

  1. Draw three blanks of the petals so that the work is voluminous. Transfer the contour to the fabric attached to the embroidery frame.
  2. Starting from the center, sew on the petals.
  3. Sew them around the contour of the beads.
  4. Put the glutinous web on the back and glue the satin. Be careful not to melt the patches and threads. If the satin is not good enough, fix it on the edges with hot glue or glue on the fabric.
  5. Carefully cut out the petals.
  6. Sew them together, laying a tulle layer between them to make the barrette softer and lush.
  7. In the center, sew a decorative element of rhinestones and a heart of beads.
  8. Use a hot glue to glue the scallop.
  9. Now the barrette is ready.

Here such beautiful things can be made with the help of a bag. Of course, this is a painstaking job, but the result is worth it.
