A masterpiece of architecture - the legendary Charles Bridge

The main attraction of Prague - a masterpiece of medieval architecture Charles Bridge - attracts people like a magnet. Charles Bridge in Prague is shrouded in legends. The most ancient ones concern the beginning of construction. Several legends say that even the date and time of laying the first stone were not accidental - they were calculated by astrologers at the request of Charles IV. And the date is, indeed, magical: 1357 years 9 days 7 months 5 hours 31 minutes. It is read from both sides, the construction of numbers resembles either a bridge, or a pyramid with a kind of number-vertex 9.

Another legend says about the conclusion of the agreement of the chief architect Peter Parler with the impure. The devil promised for the soul of the first pedestrian to make the bridge eternal, indestructible. The architect's heart nearly exploded when, at the opening of the bridge, his little son ran out ahead of everyone. People managed to grab the child, and the unclean gave up the soul of the cock. By the way, the bridge for more than half a century survived many wars, floods with little or no damage. Now, walking along this architectural monument, few people think about the fact that the Charles Bridge is a 520 meter building connecting the banks of the Vltava River, it was built as a strategic object for this purpose. The most sad historical event that occurred on the bridge, connected with the execution of Jan Nepomuk. Accepting the confession of the queen, the priest chose the death of the martyr, because he could not allow the jealous King Vaclav the Fourth to violate the church canon - the disclosure of the secrecy of the confession.

Since the XVII century Charles Bridge began to adorn the works of famous sculptors. Not all tourists know that the originals are not here, they are all kept in the National Museum, and on the general basis Vision exhibited realistic copies.

A total of 30 sculptures of religious character are installed along the bridge. But, according to legends, only 3 figures of the complex fulfill cherished desires. A prerequisite is that your dreams are not of a material nature, proceed from the very soul. Finding places of fulfillment of desires is not at all difficult - these figures are rubbed with millions of hands to shine.

The first place that realizes dreams is the bronze figure of St. John of Nepomuk. It is somewhere in the middle of the bridge, in the place from which they threw it into the river.

At the entrance to the Charles Bridge on the carved gate, four kingfishers are clearly visible. According to the belief, he who finds the fifth, can make the most secret desire, and it will certainly come true.

In the yard of the Toy Museum is a figure of a naked boy, touching which, women ask angels to give them the happiness of motherhood. A worn figure shows that such a desire is very popular among tourists.

Many merchants of souvenirs, organ-makers and artists in the documents appear on the place of registration Czechia, Charles Bridge. This, of course, is a joke, but a walk on the bridge will make you doubt it.

To visit this wonderful country and not to visit this historical museum in the air is practically a crime.
