A honey-bear is an animal-predator. Description of the species and behavior

If in Russia the most famous amateur to ruin a beehive and eat a brown bear is considered brown bear, then in the countries of Africa and Asia it is happily done by a cannibal - an animal predatory, bold and cute. There are two other common names for a mammal: a bald badger and a rat. This species belongs to the family of cuni, is allocated to a separate genus and subfamily.

Description

An animal is a honey-man that looks like a badger or a wolverine. The body of the rats is covered with thick, hard wool, the upper part of the trunk and the head having a white color with a slight red tinge, and the lower part, including the paws and tail, is all black. It is interesting that in the African jungle you can find rare specimens of a purely black color.

Cannon is an animal, the photo of which is presented below, not a very large animal. His constitution is sturdy and stocky, with short limbs and a fluffy tail. On powerful forepaws grow long sharp claws, helping to dig the earth and deftly climbing trees. The head of the mammal is wide, the muzzle is pointed with a short nose and small eyes, the ears are not prominent. The male is slightly larger and heavier than females: the length of the trunk (not counting the 25 cm of tail) is about 80 centimeters, and the weight is 7-13 kilograms.

Cannone is an animal with an incredibly thick skin, due to which it is free from biting bothersome insects. Still it sometimes helps the animal to escape from large predators.

What does the cannibal eat?

The bald badger lives in forests, mountain and steppe zones, sometimes it was possible to observe it at an altitude of about three thousand meters. Cannone is an animal, a description (for children) of which emphasizes its special "weakness" for honey. Indeed, he likes to eat honey and larvae of bees, which makes him ruthlessly destroy hives. True, the beast itself is not frightened by hundreds of angry stinging insects, because it is protected by thick skin.

And yet the main diet of the honey-comb is made up of animals, because it is quite aggressive and bold predator, able to attack even the buffalo, much larger in size, without fear. Common food bald badger - a variety of rodents: mice, hamsters, rats, ground squirrels and other inhabitants of its territory. The hunter also hunts snakes, lizards, frogs, hedgehogs, turtles and birds.

A fearless animal can attack even a cobra! He does it very cleverly. And immediately begins to eat poisonous snake, despite the dangerous bites. However, after a few minutes the cannibal falls dead under the action of the cobra venom and remains "off" from 40 minutes to two hours, and then as if nothing had happened to get up and eat up its prey. The point is that for a sultan, the bite of this snake is not fatal, although it causes severe pain and temporarily paralyzes. After that, the snake killer feels healthy. And the inhabitant of Central Asia can eat poisonous scorpions. Berries and plant foods rarely become the food of a bald badger.

A faithful friend - a medical student

An interesting fact is the "mutually beneficial cooperation" of a predator with a small bird - a medical inspector who detects bees' nests and gives a conditioned signal to the whistleblower so that he climbs and ruins them. The bird flies from branch to branch, and the gourmet goes along the ground, following it. It turns out that the secret lies in the fact that the medical student is very fond of the larvae of bees, which can not be obtained independently. This is where the brave man-eater comes to the rescue, whose interests coincide with the interests of the cunning bird.

Lifestyle honey-hunter

A sultan is an animal that leads a solitary life, like most cunies. Hunts in the dark, going out fishing with the onset of twilight. During the day it is active only during the mating season, and it can be met only in the quiet secluded places in cool weather.

The mammal has excellent hearing, sight and touch, which helps it to be an excellent hunter. It's amazing, but the potential victim of a cannibal feels even at a depth of up to half a meter underground. He quickly breaks the ground and strangles the caught prey. In the pursuit of a bald badger, a few jumps are enough to overtake a small rodent or other food. The site is carefully guarded by each individual from their brethren.

The well-fed sultan resting in a dug hole, and the depth of the shelter can reach two to three meters. In one area there may be several such holes, in the depth of which there is a cozy nest, covered with grass and leaves. Varieties of African bald badgers can arrange nests in tree hollows.

Marriage period of sisters and caring for the offspring

An avid beast, the description of which was given earlier, meets with individuals of the opposite sex only during the mating season, and after that goes back to their site, where the rest of the year is led by a habitual secluded way of life. The female takes about six months to bear young. Usually, 1-3 pups appear on the light, which are in a deep hole during the first 14 days of life. The mother takes care of the offspring and does not leave the babies until they reach the age of one year.

Cannon is an animal, selflessly protecting its young. The female, fighting for her life and the safety of the puppies, can bravely attack a large predator like a lion. There are no other serious enemies, and the animal itself can inflict severe damage with sharp teeth and claws to the animal that attacked the first.

The honey-pest

One animal, the honey-man, lives around a fairly large area, so it is not so easy to meet him. People perceive a bald badger as a malicious pest, as he often cuts livestock, ravages the chicken coops, destroys the bee nests. In villages, traps for cannabis and poisoned lures are put, which in some regions, in particular South Africa, has led to a reduction in the population of this predator, although the cannibal is not under threat of extinction.

In general, to date, the lifestyle of a bald badger in nature is not well studied. There is even no exact information about the life expectancy of a mammal. It is known that in the conditions of a zoo, cannabis can live 25 years.
