Why is it better to install copper pipes when the pipes are replaced in the house?

Copper pipes have been widely used in the past and have also remained relevant today. According to experts, they are ideal for creating a water supply and heating system, and can also be used in gas systems. The reason for the demand for such pipes is the properties of the copper metal. Due to this metal pipes made of it, completely unaffected by chlorinated water, and also have the ability to destroy bacteria, which leads to the fact that no bacteria is deposited on the inner walls.

However, it is worth noting that copper pipes are more efficiently used to create a heating system than for a water supply system. This is because copper reacts with acid and alkaline water, and is exposed to too hard or too soft water. As a consequence, if such water is constantly supplied to your house, then the use of such pipes will be shortened and, eventually, you will have to call the plumbing for troubleshooting, and the pipe will be replaced in the house again.

If copper pipes are used in water supply systems, then, of course, they will serve their entire warranty period, and even more. However, there are also some limitations. In particular, you can not often drain water from the water supply system. And, of course, the service life of both copper pipes and any pipes will substantially continue to meet the requirements specified in the manufacturer's documents.

The most important advantage of copper pipes is that they are not corroded, that is, they do not rust. In addition, they have high bactericidal and plasticity. If someone installs such pipes in his house, he can use them both at low minus temperatures (up to -100 ° C) and at high plus (up to +250 ° C) temperatures. In these temperature ranges, copper pipes always retain their properties. In addition, they crack and do not lend themselves to deformation.

However, it is worth noting that the installation of pipes has its own characteristics. In particular, any apartment owner needs to know that the combination of different types of pipes with copper in their water supply system can lead to the appearance of electrochemical processes. Experts do not recommend joining steel and galvanized pipes with copper ones. The result of such a connection is electrochemical processes, leading to the destruction of pipes. This can be interpreted as a drawback, but can be simply as one of the features of copper pipes. However, if there is still a connection of steel and copper pipes, it is better to first install steel, and then copper ones, of course, in the direction of the water.

What is worth noting from the advantages of pipes, is that the replacement of pipes with copper, including installation, is very simple. As always, when installing any pipes it is very important to make a reliable connection of the pipes themselves. Very often, these compounds are weak spots throughout the water supply system. But not in the case of copper pipes, because for their connection, press fittings are used, which, thanks to special equipment, press copper tubes so that the strength at the junction significantly exceeds the strength of the pipe itself.

So, the advantages of copper pipes can be called inability to undergo corrosion, bactericidal, plasticity, resistance to low and high temperatures. Thanks to this, no home owner will regret having installed copper pipes.
