What is a banner - a look inside and the history of its appearance

What is a banner? This is a specific area of the screen, occupied by a separate advertising or information image. This began the movement on the Internet by placing individual images of an advertising nature. We can only guess how the authors' future saw the future, but for now this is the long way this PR technology has done. Started with an ordinary image and supported later by a moving picture, today it is a regular commercial, such as shown on TV, but with many advantages.
What is a banner? We can turn on / off the sound, arrange it on the whole screen or turn it into a separate moving picture. The format with which I want to introduce you, has gone from a simple JPG, experienced GIF-technology and embodied in a flash banner. So, get acquainted - GIF and flash animation.

What is a banner? Until recently, while the capabilities of the plug-ins were not very developed, there was some unofficial standard when creating a page template. He was a table, in the cap or basement of which was a small animated movie. Its dimensions were approximately 480 by 60. Thanks to this, it was easily saved on a computer, the file had the extension * .gif. These advertising banners were created using different GIF-studio (PhotoShop or special gif-shops {Banner Shop Gif}).

I will cite some specific features of this format. The minimum amount of time taken to display one picture is about 0.1 seconds. At a resolution of 128x128, the number of colors is 256, the three-second clip will have a size of 300 KB. Playing it on a computer and a normal cell phone is very different. If on the PC the animation passes (relatively) smoothly, then the phone shows delays. Now this format is rarely used to design sites or is used in mobile content.
What is a banner? Now the role of the main provider of advertising banners fell on the share of Flash. This kind of animation allows smooth playback of audio and video tracks. Today, this technology almost completely replaced GIF from the multimedia market. In the struggle for the user, sites filled with content using Flash technology, took up more space than with the use of technology GIF. And because the application of GIF is left only for simple cell phones, beginners and fans of this technology. Flash - the absolute leader of multimedia content support.
What are banners? To date, a lot of software has been released that supports live audio and video, and is an encoder for audio and video streams (in real time) connected to the Adobe Media Server software. This software can allow live events such as sports events, Internet broadcasts or concerts to be broadcast around the clock. Once you download the necessary plug-ins to the site, you can no longer return to them, they will scroll the videos automatically, as soon as the user visits your resource.
