What are safe dreadlocks?

To date, dreadlocks are considered a very original and popular hairdo. And, they are worn by both men and women. But what if I do not want to sacrifice my hair? To this end, the so-called safe dreadlocks were invented. Thus, people have the opportunity to surprise others with a non-standard sense of style and, at the same time, to save the natural beauty and strength of hair.

Brief history of the hairstyle

Despite the general opinion, dreadlocks are not just a youth hairstyle, but a real tradition, rooted in antiquity. For example, such a hairstyle could be seen in Indian hermits, refusing to communicate with the surrounding world. Their hair grew and naturally weaved without the use of combs and shampoos.

But the tribes of Jamaica, from where, in fact, the fashion for this very original hairstyle has gone, dreadlocks are part of religious traditions. Ancient legends say that at the end of the world the god Jah will extend his hand from heaven and take all believers up, grabbing at the dreadlocks.

Of course, when such haircuts first appeared on the streets of America and Europe, they were immediately given the name dreadlocks, which means "terrible locks". But, despite such a loud description, the fashion for natural and safe dreadlocks grew. In the end, they became another way of expressing one's own personality and preferences.

What is a safe dreadlocks?

Natural dreadlocks are formed naturally - without hairbrushes, shampoos and conditioners, hair is lost in the coils. And in order to become the owner of the original hairstyle, you just need to help a little, using wax, gel and other cosmetic means to fix the coils. But here to return hair to its former state is unlikely to work.

That's why safe dreadlocks are becoming more popular. They do not weave from their own hair, but from an artificial material called kanekalon. Then, using a special technique, the master fastens the "curls" to natural hair.

Safe dreadlocks and their varieties

All artificial curls are made from kanekalon. But they are divided into several types:

  • Classic safe dreadlocks - they are the first artificial curls. The technology here is quite simple - the master makes the workpieces, and then weaves them into the client's hair. Such dreadlocks look bulky, but in fact very light and comfortable to wear.
  • Two-pointed dreadlocks - these blanks are woven into the head of hair, starting from the middle of the artificial curl. Thus, the result is two free ends.
  • J-dredy - for today they are the most popular among youth. These are thin, woven kanekalon threads, which outwardly only remotely resemble traditional dreadlocks.

In fact, the use of artificial curls makes it possible to experiment with color and length. For example, below are safe dreadlocks (photos) and their bright combinations. To some extent, the use of multi-colored strands is even considered art.

Safe dreadlocks and care rules

Artificial curls do not need any special care - only once a week will they wash their hair.

It is worth noting that dreadlocks have a "shelf life". They can be worn for 2-3 months. After this period, you need either to write to the master for correction, or to remove artificial strands.
