Verlibre is ... The meaning of the word "vers libre"

Usually, when people say that they are going to read poetry now, something very heartfelt is expected in rhyme. But many forget that rhyme is not a prerequisite. At least in such a genre as vers libre (this is a free verse), rhyme is not welcome on the contrary. The bet is made on the other: on the essence, on the rhythm, which, yes, yes, just like that, is possible without similar endings of words. All this leads to the fact that vers libre is perhaps even more difficult to write than a literary work in rhyme. But the masters of free verses amaze the possession of the art of the word and, perhaps, create true magic, twisting the lines in such a way that they form splendidly into wise and beautiful speeches.

Definition

Verlibre are unrhymed verses without a meter. It is also called free verse. The term originated from the French vers libre. Verifier has no permanent signs of commensurability, although it is divided into verse lines.

A non-rhythmic accent verse is one of the options, but there are vers libre and with much sharper rhythms.

History

In Russia, at first verses called the poems of French symbolist poets, which were translated into Russian. However, this does not mean that such creativity was not met before. Veterers often "sinned", for example, Fet.

Categories of the phenomenon

Verlibre is metric and dysmorphic. The latter also has its own classification: distinguish between the intonational-phrase verse and the drummer.

To be a rhyme or not to be?

Despite the fact that the definition of free verse is very often found, as a work that does not have rhymes (just such a definition is given in this article as well), there are exceptions to this rule. Such a mysterious thing is vers libre.

Verses that are called free, in fact, have many definitions that somehow limit them. Researchers divide the lines into parts and bars, relating vers libre to one or another category. And all because they violate all the rules of versification.

Verlibre is an example of rebelliousness in the literary field.

Individuality of the poem

If a poet wants to excel, he definitely needs to resort to writing vers libre. The Estonian poet Arvo Mats said that a free verse allows you to give importance to every word.

Prose or poetry?

If it's really fair, almost any prose can be done with a free verse, correctly arranged it line by line.

A. Bely about his novel "Masks" said that he was not printed as a free verse only in order to save paper. Surprisingly, it's true, when you read its beginning, in the head of the words themselves are laid out on the shelves, it is simply impossible to read without rhythm.

This suggests that poetry is not just a rhyme, there is in it some uncontrollable, weightless particle that makes it so.

But back to what has the name of vers libre.

Examples

An ancient Greek poetry was the depository of the most wonderful versilines. Horace, Sappho gave free verses and meliks (poems singing) even before the traditions of free versification were formed.

From the end of the 18th century, vers libre began to be used in the new European poetry, and it spread widely in the 20th century.

Russian poets, not indifferent to the three-legged metric vers libre, wrote poems in this form. Among them is the already mentioned Fet, and the mentioned White.

Verlibry wrote and Lermontov.

A widely known example is "The Lay of Igor's Campaign." The poem is considered a classic example of free verse.

Creativity Turgenev

Free forms have not bypassed the work of Turgenev: he has a collection of poems in prose, to which is so close a libertine. Short works very accurately reflect the essence, and the lines are so penetrating that, having read just a couple of them, you are already thinking about the meaning.

Modern vers libre

Examples of free verse is in Brodsky. From the genre of vers libre, the poet began to create, his first experience was connected with him. And despite the fact that when he grew up, Brodsky chose a more traditional form of versification, his free verses will forever remain in the memory of the fans.

From Joseph Aleksandrovich himself there was always an ambiguous attitude towards vers libre: because he valued the concept of freedom in principle.

A good example of this style in Brodsky - this is a famous work "From nowhere with love ..".

It is interesting that the way in which Joseph Alexandrovich read this poem aloud, very accurately displays the syntactic basis of any vers libre-monotonously-lowercase.

Finally

Apparently, although many dictionaries very clearly define vers libre, many writers continue to debate the definition of this verse. A rebel work that goes beyond limits and limitations is ideal for expressing chaotic thoughts that are not so easy to put into rhyme. And when you do not want to add to the rhyme and do not want to - especially.

Liberal is something that very well shows that poetry is a much more versatile thing than many think at first. And the poet is a state of mind, and not just the ability to pick up rhymes. In the end, the world has evolved so much that people can do it for people. But is the computer a poet? What. Rhetorical question, is not it?
