Theaters of Minsk: list. Opera, youth and puppet theaters

Theaters of Minsk were opened at different times. Some have existed for many years, others still very young. Among them there are also musical theaters, both dramatic and puppet theaters. All of them offer spectators staging different genres.

Opera Theatre

Musical theaters in Minsk offer the audience a rich variety of repertoire. Here and ballet, and the classical opera, and modern musicals. The brightest representative of this group is the Bolshoi Theater of Minsk. There is it since 1933. The name "Big" he received in 1940. A title of academic was awarded in 1964.

The Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater in Minsk on May 25, 1933 played its first performance. It was Carmen.

In the war years the opera theater (Minsk) was evacuated to the Russian Volga region, where he gave performances. Many artists went to the front or joined partisan detachments. In his native Minsk troupe returned in 1944. Because of the bombing, the building in which the actors played plays was very badly damaged, and it had to be restored. The revival of the theater was marked by the staging of the opera "Alesya".

In the 90-ies. The troupe began to enrich its repertoire with modern ballet productions.

In 2009, the next reconstruction of the building of the Minsk Opera was completed.

Today the troupe actively cooperates with colleagues from other countries. Artists constantly go on tour. And also the Minsk Opera takes on its stage artists and musicians of world renown. Now the company has 67 creative personalities. Many of them are awarded with high awards, titles and are laureates of prizes.

The Minsk Opera opened its branches in Novopolotsk, Mogilev and Gomel.

Youth Theater

Among the young theaters, one of the brightest is the youth theater. He is only 31 years old. Youth Theater (Minsk) was founded in 1985. The main director was Grigory Borovik. His first performance was based on the story "The war does not have a woman's face," it was called "These incomprehensible old people."

In the first years of its existence, the theater wandered around different sites. The building was given to artists in 1987. Previously, he was occupied by the cinema "Spartacus." Before the theater could rehearse and perform in its building, it was subjected to a long overhaul. The troupe, however, did not stop its work. Waiting until the scene is ready, the artists went on tour and participated in festivals.

Since 2003, the artistic director of the Youth became Modest Abramov. He introduced more productions in the world classics into the repertoire, as it is the classical works that enable actors to best demonstrate their dramatic possibilities.

Since 2013, the ballet group has appeared in the theater. She works in the genre of modern choreography. In 2014, the Youth Theater moved to a new building.

Puppet Theatre

Children's theaters in Minsk are very popular with young spectators. They are good, instructive, interesting tales. The most favorite among the children is a puppet theater. There is it for almost 80 years. He began his career in the city of Gomel. It was a troupe, assembled from amateur actors. In 1950, the artists moved to the city of Minsk and soon moved to the professional level. In those years, the repertoire included only children's plays. An example for imitation for the Belarusian puppeteers has always been the famous GATTC under the leadership of Sergei Obraztsov. Muscovites helped Minsk colleagues, sending them plays, sketches of scenery and dolls. In the first years of its existence Minsk puppeteers in many respects copied samples. But over time, they began to strive to acquire their own face and their own, unique style.

In the 70s, actors began to often go out from behind the screen to the stage along with the puppets. Gradually, the repertoire included works by such authors as W. Shakespeare, Y. Kupala, M. Bulgakov, V. Mayakovsky, A. Chekhov, K. Gozzi and others.

Today the Minsk puppet theater is known and loved not only in Belarus, but also in many other countries.
