The roof ladder is an important structural element

How to choose?

Until recently, most of the homeowners made the staircase for the roof on their own. Today, more and more ready-made structures are bought. But there are a number of points to consider. First, the distance between the bars in the structure may not coincide with the distance between the elements of the roofing. Secondly, the roofing material can be too brittle and fragile, for example, if it is slate or ondulin. That is, if the staircase is too heavy, the sheets may collapse.

As a consequence, the staircase for the roof must be selected correctly. First you need to measure the distance from the edge of the roof slope to its ridge. So we get the length of the longitudinal bars. The second important point is the correspondence between the distance between the bars and the distance between the waves of the material. Ideally, the steps should be located at a distance of 40 cm from each other.

Wall or attic?

The staircase to the roof of the house must be selected in accordance with the construction of the roof. As a rule, if it is flat, then there will be no problems with the installation. But most of the buildings most often have a gable or four-roof construction, so to climb it, you have to work hard. Roof stairs should be:

- reliable;

- easy to use;

- made of high quality materials;

- firmly attached.

To climb the roof, first attach the wall construction. As a rule, it is attached to the frame of the building, and therefore, when erecting a residential object, it is necessary to plan in advance the mortgage details. According to the norms, the ladder should be 200-1300 mm from the wall on average. If you need to get not to the roof, but to the chimney, you need a ladder for the roof. It is attached to the crate by special fasteners. In addition, its use should be absolutely safe in the process of operation. Building codes also prescribe that emergency ladders should be built in houses with high windows (at least 3.5 meters). Docking with the roof is carried out with the help of hooks, which smoothly move along the edge of the roof. At the ends of the hooks must be cross bars - this will protect the roofing material from various damages.

The modern staircase for a roof differs an aesthetic kind, therefore perfectly fits both in an exterior of the house, and in surrounding landscape. The installation of such structures is a very responsible process, therefore specialists must perform it.
