Russian law at all times since its inception has developed thanks to outstanding figures, famous lawyers. Our country today has about 700 thousand lawyers at its disposal. Among them there are those whose names are heard. So who are they - the most famous lawyers in Russia?

At the origins of Russian law

In 1722, Peter I signed a decree establishing the post of prosecutor-general, and the first was Count Yaguzhinsky. In the new position, he was particularly zealous about the legality and fairness of the resolution of all cases. The count was very intelligent and enterprising, for which he received the favor of the king himself.

The first known lawyers of Russia are much more familiar as writers and civic leaders, however they have done a lot in jurisprudence. Thus, the well-known statesman of the era Gavrila Derzhavin, who was the first Minister of Justice in the history of the state, also made a contribution to the formation of law in Russia. He took the post only a year, but managed to do a lot - to start the formation of an arbitration court, to prevent the appointment of people in charge of communications, to fight bribery.

Alexander Radishchev was also a famous Russian lawyer. He received his education in Leipzig, but became fully engaged in legal activities in Russia only after exile for freethinking literary works. Then he became the author of many legal works and treatises. And Radishchev is considered the father of judicial statistics, since it was he who began to study, analyze and systematize criminal legal phenomena.

He also engaged in teaching and teaching at the main law faculties of the country.

Well-known lawyers of pre-revolutionary Russia include the name of the famous Fedor Plevako, who was also called krasnoslovom and Zlatoust. He was able to convey his idea to everyone, he ruled the crowd with the virtuoso skill and became famous for his lawyer speeches. As a lawyer, he represented his clients in civil and criminal matters and most of them won just brilliant. Plevako was so famous that his speeches were published in newspapers, and people came to his speeches to just hear the great orator.

Lawyers of the 20th century

During the Soviet Union it was difficult to become an outstanding lawyer without occupying an important state post. Nevertheless, well-known Russian lawyers of the 20th century are famous for their contribution to the history of our country.

One of the most notable figures of law in the USSR can be called Andrei Vyshinsky, who was not only a prosecutor and minister of foreign affairs, but also a confidant of Stalin. Despite the brilliant mind and outstanding political and state authority, the figure is very ambiguous. So, he unconditionally supported all decisions of the government. Moreover, without his visa, no order of any commissar received a move. He also joined the commission on the solution of issues with the death penalty, presided over all the high-profile cases of that era, for example, was one of the main members of the Soviet commission at the Nuremberg Tribunal and the actual curator of repressive bodies in the USSR.

Another notable name is Peter Stuchka, who held many key positions in the judicial system, including being chairman of the Supreme Court of the RSFSR. In addition, he was the first editor of the encyclopedia of the state and law, one of the authors of the Civil Code of 1922 and the creator of the Institute of Soviet Law.

Outstanding lawyers of our time

Today in Russia a good lawyer is required for every public or wealthy person. Thanks to loud and scandalous cases involving celebrities, well-known lawyers of Russia of the 21st century also appear representing them. Their names are familiar even to those who are far from this sphere.

The first in the list of outstanding lawyers of our time, we will mention Henry Reznik, president of the Bar of Moscow. His work experience is impressive - he has been in the profession since 1965, engaged in both criminal and civil affairs. He was and continues to be the trustee of such eminent personalities as Chubais, the Yeltsin family, Gaidar and others. He is famous for protecting famous musicians, publicists, journalists and politicians.
