The detector of concealed wiring is a necessary assistant in repair

Repair in the house, even if you want to avoid it, is an almost inevitable event. There is always a desire to improve, change or add something. But before starting any repair work, you need to take care of your own safety, as well as preserve the integrity of what has already been done. If the wiring And in the room passes inside the walls, then in this case the detector of concealed wiring is simply necessary. Without it, even screwing a regular shelf can end badly.

The detector for hidden wire detection is a device that detects the presence of electrical wires in the walls. It is necessary for repair work in rooms where the laying of electric lines is performed inside the walls, and visual inspection does not give absolute certainty in its strictly defined location. The general principle of this kind of device is that when electromagnetic waves are captured, they give out an alert signal. And since the electromagnetic waves of the wall do not represent a great deal of interference, the detector makes it possible to accurately determine their source, that is, the cable.

Use such a device is very simple. First turn on the hidden detector. Then hold them along the wall in the area where drilling or other work that may damage To start the cable. If there is an adjacent power line, the device will give a corresponding sound or light message.

All detectors can be divided into three classes:

- Electrostatic. Any concealed wiring detector of this type is easy to handle and is able to detect the cable at a sufficiently large distance from itself. But at the same time, he is not deprived of shortcomings. First, this type of device will be ineffective if the walls are metal or wet. In this case, it will show that the wiring is located on the entire wall. Secondly, the drawbacks can be added the fact that it will not work if the cable is not live.

- Electromagnetic. Such a hidden detector allows you to find the cable in the wall with very high accuracy. In doing so, it is also very easy to handle. But, unfortunately, for its effective operation requires the presence of voltage on the wire and the connected load of the order of a kilowatt.

- Metal detectors. This type of device simply looks for metal in the walls. This is the main disadvantage of detectors of this type, since various metal-containing elements will interfere with the search for wiring. But their work does not require the presence of tension.

As can be seen, each of the detectors has its drawbacks, which can interfere with the efficient search of the wiring. Combining all three types of devices in one allows to increase the probability of accurate detection of cables in the wall. Virtually every manufacturer of such measuring equipment produces universal products. For example, the Bosch "GMS-120" concealed wiring detector, which allows you to search not only electrical cables and metals in the wall, but also wooden structures. And with such a device or analogue of another manufacturer, the chance of accidentally stumbling onto electric wires is much less.
