Symptoms of thrush in men

Thrush (in medical terminology - candidiasis) - is a fungal disease. It affects the mucous membranes and skin. The yeast-like fungus Candida provokes the development of pathology. This type of bacteria is present in healthy people. When creating favorable conditions (an acidic environment), Candida begins to multiply actively. Thus, thrush appears. Symptoms in men and women are approximately the same. The most common lesion in the genito-urinary tract.

It should be noted that the male thrush is rarely detected. Symptoms of candidiasis at the same time indicate a disorder of the immune system.

For certain physiological reasons, Candida fungus is quite ill-suited to a strong half of humanity. This is due to the structure of the urethra. The fungus is very easily washed out of the male urethra.

Symptoms of thrush in men may indicate the presence of an infection transmitted by sexual contact. Therefore, noticing the manifestations of candidiasis, it is not recommended to start treatment on your own. It is necessary to undergo a complete examination in order to exclude any accompanying pathologies and to prevent undesirable consequences.

Itching and burning are the main symptoms of thrush in men. Yeast-like fungus, reproducing, causes irritation. Typical symptoms of thrush in men are manifested in the form of an unpleasant odor (sour) and white deposits in the head of the penis. There is also swelling in the area of the foreskin and head, redness of the body member. Symptoms of thrush in men are expressed by discomfort and soreness during sexual intercourse.

As practice shows, the first signs of candidiasis in young men is candidiasis urethritis (inflammation in the urethra). The incubation period (the time interval between infection and the detection of the first signs) is from ten to twenty days. To the most intensive manifestation of the process include a thick discharge with an admixture of white mucus. As a rule, this phenomenon is accompanied by discomfort in the process of urination. Candid urethritis is characterized by the appearance on the head and inner leaf on the foreskin of typical, cottage cheese-like spots. This is one of the symptoms of balanoposthitis (inflammation of the foreskin and head).

When identifying the first signs it is very important to begin treatment immediately. This is the only way to prevent further spread of the infection. Otherwise yeast-like fungi, reproducing, provoke the transition of candidiasis into a chronic form, as well as the development of other very serious diseases (vesiculitis, chronic prostatitis). In addition, Candida fungus is able to penetrate into internal organs (bladder, kidneys and others). This is due to the ability of the microorganism to adapt under various conditions. In the absence of timely and competent treatment, candidiasis can cause male infertility.

In detecting candidiasis at the initial stage, as a rule, treatment is limited to the use of local drugs. Their appearance, the way of application and dosage is prescribed by the doctor. In the case of development of chronic form, it may be expedient to take antifungal drugs inside. In connection with the fact that candidiasis significantly disturbs the balance of microflora in the body, the doctor can prescribe a certain recovery course.

During the therapy a certain diet is recommended, in which sharp, sweet, spicy and marinated dishes are excluded. In addition, it is recommended to refrain from drinking alcohol and sexual contacts until the infection is completely eliminated.
