Sights of the Landscape avenue in Kiev

The alley is located within the so-called Old Town (administratively this is the modern Shevchenko district). It stretches from the house at number 7A in Desyatinny Lane (near the History Museum of Ukraine) to the building № 38 on Bolshaya Vladimirskaya, that is almost a kilometer.

Landscape alley (or simply Landscape) is a modern walking zone in the center of Kiev. It is completely pedestrian, cars do not travel here. Avraam Miletsky, a talented architect of Jewish origin, took part in the bookmark of the Landscape avenue in Kiev . In the heart of the city is the Landscape alley (Kiev). How to get here is the easiest way? The first option: take the subway and get off at the station "Golden Gate" (Sirecko-Pecherskaya branch, it is also "green"). After that, you need to walk along Vladimirskaya Street to the north to the Museum of History of Ukraine and turn left - into Desyatinny Pereulok.

If you are on the Sofia or Mikhailovskaya Square, then it's enough to walk 500 meters west along Bolshaya Zhitomirskaya Street. A landmark for you is a huge mural on the wall of the house at number 38. Before this building you should turn into the yard - and you will immediately find yourself at the starting point of the Landscape avenue in Kiev.

Landscape - the best place for visits and walks with children

Not everyone knows that the Landscape alley was created on the remains of the ancient defensive walls of Kiev, which stretched over deep precipices and reliably protected the city from enemy attacks. That's why wonderful city panoramas open from this place. Therefore, the Landscape alley is one of the best places in Kiev for romantic walks and meetings.

In addition, families with young children come here with pleasure. After all, the efforts of enthusiasts and artists created wonderful children's playgrounds. One of them is designed based on the popular fairy tale "Alice in Wonderland". In addition to world-famous characters, here you can find, for example, a pair of loving zebras or a sculpture of a little girl on an elephant. Of course, children are delighted with such sites! It should be noted that almost all the sculptures in the park are lined with multicolored mosaic, which only strengthens the festive and bright atmosphere of the Landscape.

Art Museum on the Landscape Avenue

Modern Landscape is not just a recreation area, but also a unique open-air art museum. Here you can see a lot of sculptures and unusual installations. How do you like a huge 30-meter-centipede cat with a wide-open mouth? Or is it a tall tower of colorful cushions? Not so interesting you can see on the Landscape avenue!

The idea to create an art museum on the wasteland behind Bolshaya Zhitomirskaya Street belongs to Olga Kondratska. But most of the sculptures were made by the famous Kiev sculptor Konstantin Skretutsky. This bright and extraordinary master has been decorating the streets and squares of the city with amazing works for many years.

On the creation of an art museum in the Landscape took about half a million hryvnia. It is interesting that part of this amount was collected by tenants of neighboring houses.

The oldest Kiev staircase

Next to the Landscape alley are the tracts of Gonchary and Kozhemyaki. People have lived there for a long time. Today these tracts are also densely built up by cottages. They are connected with the Old Town by an unusual wooden staircase, which ends at the very end of the landscape alley.

This staircase is one of the oldest in Kiev. It went on in the XVII century! But in the 80 years of the last century, this wooden staircase (in the people - "wooden") was chosen by informal and hippies. Here they regularly gathered in the evenings, drank wine, listened to forbidden songs and uttered rebellious speeches. Informal personalities, by the way, can be found on this ladder to this day.
