Sidebar for Windows 7 / ... without the panel itself

Fans of trying to install the new installed "Vista" almost immediately after its official release. And they faced a novelty - a side panel, like a semi-transparent useful development, but this development completely blocked the place on which it is located. To make auto-hide or spread icons for it could not even be dreamed of. As a result, on most computers it was either closed, or minimized to the tray. Experts could stop the service responsible for launching the panel.

When there was a new OS, many feared that the sidebar for "Windows 7" would again occupy half the screen, and again the problems "Vista". It turned out, no, the panel in the new "Winds" is missing. In any case, so many believed.

Implementation of the panel in a new OS

It turned out not missing. Developers have slightly modified it, and users of the new version received a sidebar, ... but without a panel. All is left - the ability to add a clock, calendar and other useful gadgets to the user's choice, but now these mini-programs are not fixed on one side. In the new OS, the user can drag them around the desktop, scatter them around the corners, arrange them even with a cascade or put them in a column, as implemented in Vista. There was also the possibility of using a place under gadgets. In general, the sidebar for "Windows" 7 ceased to be a panel in the usual sense of the word.

In the standard distribution of "Winds" 7 of any edition there is no more concept of the panel. But in the standard section there was a new icon - "Gadgets". It launches several gadgets (the clock in the upper right corner). Further gadgets the user can lay out himself - from the menu of any running gadget. The side panel for "Windows" 7 can start in another way, by clicking on the desktop PCM, then selecting "Gadgets".

The standard set of gadgets for Windows 7 completely duplicates the set that came with Vista, but the network has a lot of both separate collections and whole programs that significantly extend the standard settings.

If the gadgets do not start - perhaps they were not marked during installation. Not to search manually, you can make updates - gadgets are considered the main element, and with this update, the system will supply them. But it should be updated with caution. Sometimes some crooked update can demolish the language panel. If you use abbreviations, you can not return it, but the language indicator is usually superfluous.

Returning the Language Bar

If, as a result of an update or some actions, the Windows language panel is no longer displayed, you can check its availability in the following way. "Control Panel" - "Language and Regional Standards" - "Language Bar".

Here we check two marks:

  • "Show text labels on the language bar" include;
  • "Fixed in the task bar" - turn on if desired. Disabling this item will allow you to locate the language indicator wherever you like.

You may need to reboot to apply the settings. Also it should be noted that if only one language is used on the system for text input - for example, Russian, then the indicator will not be either. For its correct operation, two or more languages are required. Additional languages are added in the same block "Language and Regional Standards", only by another link - "Languages and Keyboards". Here you can return English (if it does not exist), add German and other necessary languages by clicking the "Add" button. For this change, you might need a system distribution. However, the seven can search the package on the Internet, if it is connected.

A few words about the control panel

Starting with XP, the control panel began to use nested items. Therefore, if, for example, you need wallpaper settings, permissions, any other settings related to the monitor or video card, the Windows control panel hides them in the personalization block, the language panel is Language and Regional Standards, etc. But, Unlike XP, all the menus are usually visible right away, you do not need to open the whole block.

Conclusion

The side panel for Windows 7 (first for Vista) was quite an interesting invention, but with the departure of the seven from the market, it also left. The new, updated 8.1 has the ability to display the familiar desktop, but fans of this panel will have to look for a third-party replacement.
