Semi-Neighbors of the Loryae Family: Features of the Mammal, Appearance and Habitat

In children's cartoons often draw funny small animals with huge sad eyes. They are small half-witches. Several families belong to this suborder, one of them is the semi-genus of the Lori family. It is about them that our story will go.

Who are half-rabbits

Semipeople are mammalian primates. They include animals of six families:

  • Are long-suffering;
  • Tupayi;
  • Handkerchief;
  • Lemurs;
  • Indri;
  • Lori.

From ordinary monkeys they are distinguished by the structure of the brain, which is less developed. The large hemispheres have few or very smooth gyri. The semi-feudal loryae family is only one of fifty species of semi-ovaries.

Appearance

The family has two equivalent names: the Lori and Lorisid. The animals themselves are not large. The minimum body length of the adult body, depending on the species, is 22 cm, the maximum length is 40 cm. The mass varies from 300 g to 2 kg. The semi-genus of the Lori family can have a short tail or be completely tailless. She has very big eyes. Many have black circles around their eyes, and a white band passes between them. Actually, thanks to these circles, the half-breed of the Loryev family, whose name is often shortened to Laurie, and got its name. From the Dutch Loeris is translated as a "clown".

In small primates and hands, and feet are able to make grasping movements. The second wrist finger is very short, it is considered rudimentary. And on the second toe foot is a durable, so-called toilet, claw, by which primates arrange their fur. Other fingers are protected with nails.

All members of the family have soft, but thick wool. Color in different species does not match. The fur coat can be of different shades of gray and brown colors. The back of the animals is almost always darker.

The semi-genus of the Lori family has several pairs of nipples. Most often 2 or 3. The mating period in females occurs once a year, and the pregnancy lasts about 190 days. Females bring no more than two cubs. The offspring are born sighted. The kids have developed a grasping instinct that allows them to hold fast to the parent's hair.

Habitat

Small Lori are subdivided into 2 subfamilies:

  • Laurian Lemurs.
  • Galagonal Lemurs.

Inside the subfamilies there are 11 different species. So, where is the half-genus of the Loryev family found? The answer is simple: in tropical forests of different continents. The main places of residence are Asia, Africa and India.

Lifestyle

Semi-zebrites prefer a nocturnal lifestyle. Animals move slowly and cautiously. From branch to branch they pass, but do not jump over. Strong and tenacious paws reliably cling to the branches. In natural conditions, the Lori are almost never descended to the ground, but lead a tree life.

Often, the Laurian semi-oeuvres gather in generic groups, but they can live alone. Life expectancy of these animals is high enough, they are able to live up to 20 years.

The diet consists of various insects, bird eggs and small vertebrates. However, animals with pleasure and consume juicy fruits. Some species lick the arboreal juice, which is released after tearing off the bark.
