Russian writer Alexei Kalugin: books, biography

Alexei Kalugin is a Russian science fiction writer who started his creative career in 1996 with the publication of the novel "Labyrinth." His life path to creativity was not thorny, but it was quite long. As a result, we have the opportunity to read wonderful books in which amazing events develop and completely different worlds are revealed.

Children and adolescence. Early yearning for reading

Alexey Kalugin was born in Moscow on June 11, 1963. He had learned to read early and from that moment absorbed those books that were at home. Obviously, this love of reading determined his writing principle in the future. What is remarkable, Alexei Kalugin chose books selectively. Reading was one of the most fascinating activities, so it was necessary to approach it selectively.

According to the writer himself, the very first books that were remembered were Lermontov's Borodino and Wells's Stories. When relatives realized that it was impossible to change something in the child's craving for reading, they gave him complete freedom in this matter. By the time he had to go to school, the future writer had already mastered a number of volumes of Jack London, Arthur Doyle, Stefan Zweig, Alphonse Dode, Lope de Vega.

Perhaps the most impressive book was Shakespeare's Hamlet. It was a gift edition in a large format and a black cover. The letters in this book were blood red, and for the child's perception it seemed that they were made of blood.

By the way, Alexei wrote his first story about six years ago. Of course, and his genre was appropriate - fantastic. According to the author himself, he does not even remember where he went, but the text still knows. This story Alexei did not show anyone.

At one time the boy went to a standard school and finished eight classes. After that, according to Alexey, his adult life began.

A long way to writing your first serious book

Alexey Kalugin continued his studies at the medical school, which he finished. His specialty was a medical assistant. The writer remembers the most interesting event that happened in three years of training. They visited the sectional. After what Alexei saw, he rethought his position in life a little.

After receiving his education, Kalugin gave his debt to his homeland. He served in the Trans-Baikal military district, in the building battalion. Very close to the city of Ulan-Ude, which is considered the capital of Buddhism. The only introduction to the ancient culture did not impress him at all.

In 1985, Alexei returned to Moscow and entered the Institute of Food Industry Engineers, as he decided to get a higher education. He did not like studying. In parallel, Alexey worked at the Institute of Biological and Medical Chemistry, and also wrote short stories.

Writing career

Many of the first stories of Alexei Kalugin can be found in the collection "Do not create an enemy", which was published by the publishing house "Exmo" in 2000. However, at that time, the texts that the future writer sent to magazines with fantastic themes, were not published. In the end, he stopped sending them.

The very first novel, which Kalugin decided to assign to the publishing house "Armada", was his work "Dark Reflections." The writer brought it to the contest, which was held for novice authors. However, the novel was rejected for reasons that were not clear to Kalugin. Obviously, the publishing house had its own view on this matter.

However, he was still offered work. The publisher liked one of Alexei's novels, which after processing turned into a novel "Labyrinth." Later the author wrote a series of books with the same name ("Torn Time", "World without the Sun").

After two novels were written, Alexei Kalugin, whose books were more important, ceased his work in science. He refused to serve as a research officer and did not defend a thesis, which was already completely ready and approved. "Armada" publishing house offered Alexey a long-term contract, and in 1997 his trilogy "Reservation", "Long Live the Reservation", "Forget the Reservation" was published.

These are quite interesting novels that tell us what can happen to the world in the near future, if we do not stop mercilessly exploiting the Earth. Our descendants, in order to protect humanity from extinction as a result of a natural catastrophe, create the Sphere of Stability. A super strong protective field surrounds the huge metropolis in which people live. But in the end, there begin the same human problems that were once in the whole territory of our planet. All this almost led to a new catastrophe on Earth.

Work with the publishing house "Armada" lasted two years. In 1998, there was a crisis in the country, which led to the writer's rethinking of his activities. He stopped liking those demands that were exhibited in the publishing house, so he left therefrom.

In the same year, Kalugin began his cooperation with the "Exmo". He began to write those texts that were of interest not only to the publisher, but also to him. The plus of cooperation was that the framework was less rigid, it was not necessary to customize the text for them, and the editor was more important in what literary quality the work was written. The first book published in the publishing house "Eksmo" was the novel "Changed". He was the first in the trilogy. Further were written "The mutiny of the doomed" and "Shards of reality." Let's now talk about the most remarkable works of Kalugin.

A series of novels "Labyrinth"

As it was written above, one of the first books that were published by a novice writer was the novel "Labyrinth". At that time, Kalugin had just started cooperation with the publishing house "Armada". The first part was released in 1996, the same year saw the second book of this series - "Torn Time". The last part was published only in 2002 under the title "World without the Sun".

Alexey Kalugin "Labyrinth" wrote his own quite brightly. The plot is the following: people have long since emerged into space and on one of the planets discovered the Labyrinth, which is the fundamental principle and model of the universe. The initial assumption of people that this is an artificial structure, was not confirmed. The labyrinth tries to destroy the researchers, and they decide to resist it.

In the second part, it is said that the earthly civilization was lost because of the invasion of "mechanics". Those people who were in the Labyrinth, survived, and fell into the past before the invasion began. They have to change the destiny of the world.

In the last part, people again fight with the monstrous creations of the ancient Labyrinth.

He wants to steal and kill a doctor who treats stalkers for free. Of course, he does not get it. But he can not live further in the zone, because everyone has his own way.

The book "Empty Lands"

Another book from the Stalker series can be called the novel "Empty Lands", written in 2009. The plot tells of the stalker Jagger, who is chosen unscathed from any alterations. Alexey Kalugin "Empty Lands" wrote, thinking about the strength of the spirit of man, that one can get out of absolutely any alterations. On his way, the hero of the novel meets treachery. This leads him to revenge for those who doomed him to such a life. But, going to his goal, he learns so much new things that everything changes radically. Life is seen in a completely new light, and the misdeeds of other people no longer seem serious.

What else did Kalugin Alexey remember?
