Re-vaccination and inoculation of apple in spring

Do you want to grow several varieties of apples on one fruit tree or just to rejuvenate your garden? All this is possible with the inoculation of fruit trees.

Re- vaccination and inoculation of apple trees in spring begins before or during sap flow, usually in May.

The essence of re-vaccination is to update the tree with new sprouts. The process itself consists of harvesting cuttings, grafting and caring for the tree. Cuttings are small segments of one-year growth with three developed buds, which are harvested well in advance. The mistake of many gardeners is that the day of vaccination or re-vaccination coincides with the cutoff day of the cuttings, and this is not true. Pruning of old apple trees occurs mainly in autumn. The main thing when storing the cuttings is that the kidneys do not have time to get through before the vaccination. For this, it is necessary to store the cuttings at a temperature not exceeding three degrees Celsius.

Trees that are planted are called stock, and grafted cuttings are grafted. Good coalescence of cuttings occurs when these trees are closely related, i.e. Apple trees are planted with apples, pear - pear, etc. The inoculation of apple trees in the spring occurs at the expense of tissue between the bark and wood, the cells of which are able to firmly fuse. It is also important to take into account that the layers of wood and cuttings must coincide. Let's not forget that pruning of column-shaped apple trees is done a little differently. Due to a deficiency of growth hormone, it is necessary to remove the superfluous two kidneys so that they do not take it away.

In spring, the sapling of apple-trees during the sap movement is carried out by the method behind the bark, when the same lengths of three or four centimeters are made equal to the thickness of the root and prieva of equal thickness, and, applying tightly to the cut of the tree, tie with a narrow braid, then cover with garden gauze or stain with ocher. It is also necessary to lubricate the wounds at the ends of the slices. Alternatives to the coating can serve as caps made of polyethylene, which are worn on the graft and tie from the bottom. Inside, good conditions are created for the stalk to take root, and the inoculation of apple trees in spring proved to be successful. You can also nail small nails to the stem tree, however, binding is required here to prevent the penetration of water and dust into the cut. In a fortnight, the cutting should be loosened. It is already possible to determine whether the kidney has taken root or not. If so, the petiole of the leaf turns yellow and quickly disappears, and the bark itself is shiny and smooth. Otherwise, the inoculation should be repeated, but already changing the location of the new cuttings.

As soon as the vaccination takes place, it is necessary to constantly monitor this process. Trees with grafted cuttings need watering and fertilizer. It is also important to combat the pests that have appeared and to ensure that the wind and birds do not break off the cuttings. If the apple tree is grafted with more than one stalk, then only those that have best been planted should be left to grow, and others cut at the end of July. In the spring of next year, grown shoots shorten by a third of the length and form a branch, as a consequence, a fruitful tree.
