Pushkin Bridge: the more interesting and how to get there

Pushkin Bridge is a pedestrian crossing across the Moskva River, located in the Khamovniki district, Central Administrative District of the capital. It is one of the city's engineering sights, it is often photographed.

Prehistory

The prototype and the main central part of the pedestrian crossing across the Moskva River, which connects Pushkinskaya and Frunzenskaya embankment, is the old Andreevsky Bridge. It served the Muscovites with faith and truth from the very beginning of the twentieth century and served as a liaison for the small ring of the Moscow railway between the stations of Kanatchikova and Vorobyovy Gory.

Andreevsky Bridge was erected in 1905-1907 under the leadership of Proskuryakov Lavr Dmitrievich - the greatest Russian bridge engineer and modernist architect Alexander Pomerantsev.

Until 1917 Andrew Bridge was called Sergievsky in honor of the Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich. In 1956, both bridges were reconstructed in accordance with the design of the Soviet historian, architect and engineer-bridge builder Nadezhin Boris Mikhailovich.

Building

Pushkin Bridge, which connected the Central Park of Culture and Neskuchny Garden, was erected in 1999. The project of the new bridge was executed by famous Moscow architects: Platonov Yu. P. and Melaniev DA The most difficult stage of construction was the transfer by means of barges of the central part of the Andreevsky bridge, which weighed 1.5 thousand tons. It was transported to a new location, located one and a half kilometers downstream, and then it was decided to call the new bridge Pushkin by the name of the embankment.

Features

Pushkin Bridge (Moscow) consists of the following parts:

• Base - piles ramming (more than 17 m);
• Foundation - reinforced concrete slab;
• Spans arches: central, 135 m - metal (part of the old Andreevsky bridge), the last, 25 m - reinforced concrete.

The building is equipped with a special elevator designed for people with disabilities, but it does not always work.

On the side of Neskuchny there is a two-hundred-meter overpass leading from Leninsky Prospekt to Pushkinskaya Embankment, and from the direction of the First Frunzenskaya Street there is an indoor lobby with an escalator gallery.

Pushkin Bridge in Moscow: how to get there by metro

If you want to go on an excursion by car, then to get to the bridge, it is better to use the navigator. However, the most convenient way to go on the subway. The nearest station is Frunzenskaya. Also close to the station are the Park of Culture, Oktyabrskaya and Shabolovskaya stations.

How to get there by other means of public transport

To visit the Pushkin Bridge in Moscow (how to get to the metro, you already know), you can take a bus. The stop "First Frunzenskaya" routes 79 and 79k is located directly on the embankment of the same name, at a distance of 400 m from the entrance to the bridge, i.e., it will take six to eight minutes to walk. You can use public transport in a different way. However, a stop with the same name for routes 28 and 31 is located somewhat further, near the metro station "Frunzenskaya", which is about a kilometer or fifteen or twenty minutes on foot.

From the Pushkin Bridge you can also admire the monumental building of the General Staff of the Ground Forces of the Russian Federation, built in the style of the Stalin Empire, and see the towers of the Kremlin. And, if you look closely, you can even see Kremlin stars from there.
