Checking the temperature of the main components of the PC is a task that must be solved very rarely. And not everyone will need this experience. Another thing is if the software starts to work unstably, the computer fails or suddenly turns off by itself. Especially in the case when such problems appear only in applications that use the maximum amount of machine resources. The program for measuring the temperature of the processor and video card is the first thing that will help in diagnosing such problems.

Main signs of overheating

As stated above, temperature testing is a fairly rare operation. Usually it is required when testing the "iron" is not overheating. Reasons for such a suspicion may be:

MSI Afterburner

The application provides the most comprehensive information about hardware, starting with the one that the driver can get, and ending with the one provided by the BIOS and the sensors installed in the controllers.

However, let's focus on the main thing - temperature monitoring. Pay attention to the strip of characters that is on top. Here there is an icon with a diagram, you need to click on it. After clicking, the window with the settings set by the program's manufacturer by default will open. I must say that the initial configuration does not monitor all parts of the PC, but the most important ones.

You can change the number of graphs and configure them by clicking the "Settings" button (or Preferences, if the English version is used). In the opened utility the inclusion of diagrams for each sensor inside the computer is realized. So, for example, the program for measuring the temperature of the processor and video card of the laptop offers to choose not just the CPU, but each of its core separately.

Stress test

I must say that viewing information about the temperature of the main parts of the PC will not do anything if you perform a check during idle time (that is, with the launch of a minimum of programs). If you run a "heavy" full-screen application, the system will shut down due to overheating, leaving the user bewildered: was there really an excess of peak values or should the problem be looked elsewhere?

Therefore, monitoring and computer loading should be performed simultaneously. Not every program for measuring the temperature of the notebook processor provides such functionality. For example, Afterburner displays information only when full-screen applications are running. Data in SpeedFan and HWMonitor can be read only when the user switches to their windows. AIDA64, unlike them, simplifies the task and allows you to run a stress test.

Run the test

To start this test, click on the same chart icon. Pay attention to the upper left corner of the window. There is a list of devices, and next to them are checkboxes. This indicates the components that will be tested. It is advisable not to apply such measures in relation to the hard disk, although this is possible.

After checking the checkboxes, click the "Start" button. At this time, the computer will start testing. It is advisable not to depart at this time from the monitor and follow the diagrams. If the bar of any chart drastically creeps up and exceeds the critical value, it is better to immediately turn off the test in order to avoid equipment breakdown, because the problem can be considered identified.
