Pigment for the eyes. Shiny shadows. Secrets of using pigments in makeup

Pigments have long been used in the creation of professional make-up, and recently they have become available for home use, and immediately became very popular. And it is not surprising, because none of the eye shadow is equal in brightness and persistence with pigments.

What it is

In fact, the pigment is a colored powder, which is ground very, very thinly. Initially, it is added to the cosmetic basis for the production of eye shadow, lipstick or nail polish. It is the pigment that communicates this or that shade to the product. However, later the colored powder itself was used to create make-up, just as it was used in antiquity.

In themselves, highly pigmented powders that leave a bright trace on the skin or fabric, are not a modern development. Ancient people used the first pigment of iron oxide for rock paintings, and in the early Minoan era, Crete extracted purple from snail shells. Of course, today pigments are mostly of synthetic origin, but the principle is preserved.

Than the pigment differs from shadows

So, the main difference of these products for the eyelids lies on the surface - the pigment is much brighter and more saturated with shadows. However, this is not all the differences. The pigment for the eyes is a color concentrate, it needs very little to get a bright make-up. Shadows, as a rule, lie in a translucent layer. By the way, the economical consumption of pigments and induced manufacturers to produce it as an independent product for professional make-up artists - they need a lot of make-up, and the dry pigment for the eyes, which is required quite a bit, allows to save a lot.

And another difference, so beloved first by professionals, and then by those who paint themselves - the pigments blend perfectly with each other. This allows you to create new shades of cosmetics, unique and suitable for you. In addition, the pigment can be added to the existing cosmetic product, diversifying its palette. For example, by adding to your usual eye shadow pigment with glitter or with a metallic effect, you will get updated shiny shadows with a new property.

Secrets of using pigment in eye makeup

If you decide to try the pigment in the eye makeup, then do not think that you will only buy one jar. First, you will need a special brush. Recall that the pigment - a dry fine powder, and put it on the eyelid is better not a finger, not a sponge, but only a brush. And it should be flat, densely packed, wide and fairly rigid. A soft brush will not allow to collect a pigment for the eyes, and a wide flat shape allows to correctly apply it to the eyelid.

It is also better to choose a brush from a combined or artificial material, since natural can not get enough pigment on the pile. But for feathering the already applied dye, you can use a fluffy natural brush.

You will also need a primer. This is a special substance that allows the pigment to adhere well to the skin and stay on it for a long time without smearing or rubbing. You may also need a special gel, with which it is convenient to mix shades.

How to use pigments for the eyes

Although the pigment resembles friable shadows, it is worth remembering that it is much more concentrated and requires carefulness in application and some practice.

First of all, apply a primer to the eyelid, and then take a little pigment from the jar with the right brush and shake off the excess on the edge of the package. Apply the product without smearing, and driving it into the skin, with light patting movements. This is why a wide and flat brush is needed. This technique will avoid shedding pigment.

Even if you use only one shade for eye makeup, you will need to shade it to make the border invisible. To do this, take a clean soft brush and work as you would with normal shadows.

How to choose

First of all, carefully read what is on the jar with the product. Pigments approved for use on the eyes must have an appropriate inscription. Do not use this product for the eyelids, in the appointment of which you doubt, because some pigments are quite aggressive, and applying them near the mucous eye can be dangerous to health. Usually these are neon and very bright acidic shades.

In addition, pigments have a different effect when applied to the skin. There are they:

  • Satin - with a slight uniform glint, reminiscent of that of a silk or satin fabric.
  • Shimmer - with small glitters in the composition, which create a depth and shine of color.
  • With metallic effect - silver, bronze, golden shadows, which allow you to get a spectacular dense coating with a metallic sheen.
  • Matt - not having any shine.

Despite the fact that initially pigments have a very good ability to create a dense bright coating, today on sale it is possible to meet pigment-powders. They have a more transparent application and are designed to create a semblance of haze on the finished makeup of the eyes.

Brands

Today, the pigment for the eyes can be bought at any cosmetic store. Some of the most popular are products from the American firm MAC. They are used by professional make-up artists around the world, and among fans of make-up they have a lot of followers. They are beautifully applied, shaded, do not roll down on the eyelids and have a rich palette. The most famous and universal ones are the shades of Vanilla and Naked. By the way, thanks to its neutral light shade and magnificent radiance, they are often used as a highlighter, for example, for applying under the eyebrow.

Another well-known producer of pigments is Inglot. This brand is known for the fact that you can buy as many refills and jars, and then create new compositions with them, store them in magnetic cases and combine them according to your desire. Brilliant pigments for the eyes of this brand are also distinguished by the richness of shades, especially the presence of a large number of interesting duochromic shades, that is, in which two different colors are combined, manifested under different lighting conditions.

More affordable product is NYX pigments. They have a rich palette of neutral light and beige to deep dark or bright shades with a chic glitter of iridescent particles. They hold on long enough, than usually can only boast a quality expensive pigment for the eyes. The reviews, however, point out the uncomfortable packaging and capricious nature of the colored powder - it is neatly difficult to apply it, especially for beginners.

Examples of makeup using pigments are the daytime option

If you need everyday make-up for work or study - pigments can add to it raisins. For daytime make-up, the ideal option is bright neutral shades with a light shimmer or satin gleam. For eye make-up, apply a primer to the eyelid, and then draw the arrows in black pencil or cayal. Razhushuyte upper limit of the arrow and apply to the entire mobile eyelid pigment. Add mascara - and the day's make-up is ready. On the one hand, this is a very simple option, but on the other hand, it is the pigment that will give the look depth and brightness.

Evening eye makeup

In evening make-up, where bright colors and shiny shades are appropriate, pigments reveal all their beauty. And that the bright pigmented shades were even brighter, they should not be applied to the bare skin of the eyelids, or even to the colorless primer, but to the black greasy substrate, best of all on black cream shades.

On all mobile eyelid it is necessary to put shadows, having set a brush the basic contour of drawing. Also the shadows need to bring the lower eyelid close to the mucous eye. Then with a softer brush you need to slightly shade the borders on the upper eyelid, and also draw the shadows to the outer corner of the eye. Next, without delay, until the substrate has dried completely, apply a pigment. It is better to take two or three shades - light for the inner corner of the eye, dark for the outer and intermediate bright color for the transition. It can be a blue, green, purple hue or even golden shadows that are appropriate for a holiday make-up.

Light pigment start to drive into the black eyeliner from the inner corner of the eye, stretching the color throughout the century. Then add a second color and blend the border between them. The third color stretch on the outer corner of the eye towards the temples, remaining within the shade drawn in advance. Do not forget to apply the pigment to the lower eyelid.

Then it will only be necessary to correct the picture with a clean brush, remove the scattered particles with a napkin and make up or glue false eyelashes. You can also add a concealer, disguising the circles under the eyes and highlighting the lower contour of the eyebrow.

Pigments for permanent make-up

Let's say a few words about the pigments used in permanent eye makeup. Unlike ordinary cosmetics, they have a gel or semi-liquid form and consist of the actual pigment, water and glycerin.

In the eye tattoo, the technique of filling the color of the intermittent space is used (which makes the eyelashes visually darker and more magnificent without the use of carcasses) and the drawing of arrows on the upper eyelid (imitation of a pencil arrow). Also tattooing will help to give the eyes a more beautiful shape or to correct the lowered outer corner of the eye.

Pigments for permanent make-up basically have black-brown, less often blue, green, gray shades. The beauty of modern professional tools is that the master can mix shades and choose the perfect one for each color.
