Phil from "Interns": an actor. Find out who plays Phil in "Interns"

From the first minutes, as the series "Interns" appeared on the screens, he won the hearts of all spectators with his charming characters and unique humor.

But if with the main performers, in principle, everything was clear, then Phil from the "Interns" caused a lot of questions: is it a Russian actor who so skillfully imitates an accent, or is it an invited western star? A lot of guesswork and a minimum of information. Let's try to figure out who is playing Phil in the Interns. Why was this actor chosen for this role?

Childhood and youth of the future star of "Internov"

Phil from the "Interns", whose biography interests everyone so much, was played by Odin Land Byron. This is not a pseudonym - this is the real name of the actor who played this role.

One Byron comes from Minnesota (USA). At age 15, he moved with his mother to Michigan. When it came time to choose the future profession, Odin, who had a good voice and played the violin, decided to enter the faculty of musical theater at the local university. The young man had high hopes for a future career, because in Michigan - quite a lively theater life.

Before Odin was played by Phil from Interns, the actor was successfully educated at the university he had chosen in the United States. But, he said, the teachers of the institution more taught their students the art of business than the art of the actor. Therefore, when there was an opportunity to leave for an internship in Moscow, Odin seized this opportunity in the hope of improving his performing skills.

Internship in Moscow, or difficulties in translation

The Moscow Art Theater School welcomed its trainees from overseas, but the future Phil Richards of Interns faced, as they say, the difficulties of translation, because metaphorically Russian is one of the most difficult languages in the world. Acquaintance with the "hello" and "please" attendants became for Byron a real torture.

Despite this, Odin did a good job, so after 3 months of internship, he suddenly received an offer to stay in Russia and continue his further education at the Moscow Art Theater School, and even immediately enrolled in the second year. One Byron agreed, because he went to Moscow in order to join the Russian school of acting. His artistic director was Konstantin Raikin.

But no one promised that such an experiment would be simple: a year and a half later, the future Phil from the "Interns", whose biography is full of surprising turns, began to think about returning to his homeland. The fact is that it is important for the actor to think quickly, and most importantly - to freely express their feelings and emotions on the stage. But Russian was given with difficulty, Odin did not always understand the text that he pronounced, and therefore he felt himself out of place.

"Ivan the Terrible"

Having put in the effort and all the necessary efforts, One Byron brought his training in Moscow to the end and received a diploma. It would seem that you can go back to the United States, but the young actor decided that such an act would be reckless: he learned a new language, tried to understand the Russian view of art - for what? Is it possible to leave Russia so quickly? That is why Odin gladly accepted the offer of Konstantin Arkadyevich Raikin to join the theater "Satyricon".

Before Odin Byron played Phil from "Interns", the actor played the role of Modest Baklushin in the play "Money" by A. Ostrovsky and tried himself several times in the movie.

His first picture was the TV series "Ivan the Terrible". The historical multi-part film was shot in 2009 by the director Andrei Eshpai. He narrated about the biography of the great Russian Tsar from the first days of his birth to the moment of his passing from life. One received an episodic role - an ambassador from England - for which his perfect knowledge of English and the English accent was very useful .

"The Capital of Sin"

The next work of Byron in the movie was the role of the second plan in the series "The Capital of Sin", directed by Olga Subbotina. The story is not new: two girls are sent to conquer Moscow and, as events develop, they lose all their illusions about the success and the price that it is necessary to pay for it.

The future Phil Richards of the "Interns" and this time appeared on the screens in an exotic image - Prince Max. There are not so many episodes with him, but he worked in the company of such celebrities as Dmitry Nagiyev, Victoria Tolstoganova, Andrei Ilyin, Evelina Bledans, Lyubov Tolkalina, and others.

Samples in the "Interns"

In 2011, One begins to make fatal shootings in Interns: it was after the episodes with his participation in the Internet search engines began to appear more often the query "who plays Phil in the" Internals "- the audience sincerely believed that under the pseudonym One Byron is hiding a Russian guy who has a talented imitation of accent.

In turn, Odin admits that he was sure - he failed the tests in the TV series. What was the surprise of Byron when he finally got a call back.

One byron about filming in Internah

As the young actor recalls: Phil Richards ("Interns") as a character seemed to him simple and familiar, because the life situations of the American trainee and Odin are quite similar. However, the first shooting day showed that the difficulties will still be.

Again, problems with the Russian text began. In one of his interviews, One Byron even joked that the scriptwriters probably deliberately mocked him - they chose such words for proposals that the foreigner simply can not pronounce. Sometimes for the pronunciation of one phrase Odin needed about 20 takes. But the color, which brought a real foreigner in the canvas of the series, was worth the torment of the artist and the crew.

For advice on how various medical procedures are being carried out, Odin turned to his mother, who works in America as a doctor in a private clinic. It was she who taught him to make injections correctly.

One Byron about colleagues on the set

Phil from "Internov" (more precisely, the actor who performs it) warmly responds to the creative team of the series.

One Byron in the interview often expresses gratitude to the producers of the project for helping him solve important issues with documents, in particular, with the opening of a visa, etc.

To sharp remarks and ridicule of colleagues on the set, he has not been offended for a long time, because he understood: it is common in Russia to joke with each other.

The young actor says that his colleague, Ivan Okhlobystin, still differs from his on-screen character - Dr. Bykov: he is much calmer - he constantly writes and thinks about something in the intervals between shootings. At the initial stages of the shooting process, Okhlobystin helped Odin develop the right approach to the genre in which they play, in particular - to the Russian humorous text.

Awards and Prizes

Two times the diligence of a foreign actor in comprehending the school of Russian acting was celebrated with honorary diplomas. Tsareva and M.I. Grishina. He was also nominated for the "Golden leaf-2009" award for the role of Hamlet in the same play by W. Shakespeare (premiered on the stage of the M. Baryshnikov Arts Center).

Phil from Internews has been living in Russia for 6 years. In response to questions from journalists about further plans, the actor One Byron just shyly smiles and says that he is not ready to leave so far from Russia.

And two years ago, Odin finally received Russian citizenship, which means that the departure to his homeland is definitely postponed, and very soon we can expect new films with his participation.
