Outstanding attractions: Obninsk and its famous cultural sites

The Russian city of Obninsk is called the first in the state science city. And here everything corresponds to this name: attractions (Obninsk), names of different institutions, the coat of arms of the city. So, one of the local stores is called "Radium", and on the facade of the plant is depicted the formula of Einstein, well, and on the coat of arms of the settlement a symbol of the atom is drawn. It was in this city that the first nuclear power plant began operating in the world. But this is not all that Obninsk is able to surprise: his incredibly amazing cultural objects deserve attention.

A whole city in one house

The museum of the history of the city is the place from which it is worth starting to consider the sights. Obninsk received this object in 1965. Then the whole event was based solely on a volunteer basis. And already in 1992 the museum moved to a building that was built especially for him. It was at this moment that the attraction was given a second life: the exposition of the institution expanded, the museum received at its disposal a whole exhibition hall.

The collection of the institution has about 50 thousand exhibits, which also have the right to wear the title of attractions. Obninsk gives every tourist the opportunity to enjoy contemplation of these objects. The exhibition opens with an introduction to the halls dedicated to the history of the area. Here are the tools, religious objects that scientists found during excavations near the city, stone weapons, dishes made of clay and other artifacts.

The visitors of the historical museum also have an opportunity to get acquainted with the main occupations and life of the inhabitants of the surrounding villages, with their peasant folk costumes. Among the exposition items are also religious religious things, various textbooks, the rare icon of St. Mitrofanius and an ink device from the parish school.

Scientist cat

In any city it is necessary to find entertaining, nowhere else meeting attractions. Obninsk has such a thing, and this is a sculpture called "Cat scientist." A monument is erected near the right facade corner of the House of Scientists. The impetus for the construction of the monument was a century old oak growing near that very house. At first, the city authorities even wanted to mount a monument on this tree, "planting" a cat on a gold chain. But the decision was not implemented, as the work to establish the monument could damage the root system of oak.

So, in 2013 on the corner of the House of Scientists a popular cat appeared in the city. It looks like this: a fat animal is clothed in an academic hat and jacket. The animal is entirely focused on science. It holds the attributes of science with its paws.

Nuclear power plant

Sights of Obninsk, photos of which are presented in the article, is also the first nuclear power plant on the planet. The object was launched in 1954. Then only one channel uranium-graphite reactor with a water coolant was equipped at the station. Feinberg and Kurchatov put forward the idea of creating an active zone of the station. The reactor was started by Krasin and Dubovsky. And he directed the Kurchatov process.

In addition to the fact that the reactor produced energy, it was also a springboard for various experiments. Today the station is not operated. Having successfully worked for 48 years, the reactor was drowned in late April 2002.

Meteorological mast in Obninsk

Sights of Obninsk, photo and description of which we offer, can not be imagined without a meteorological mast. In operation it was introduced in 1959 and was called VMM-310. The object is made of steel and has a silvery-gray tinge. The height of the mast reaches 310 meters, and the diameter is 2.3 meters. Four balls of braces hold the mast. Radiological and meteorological instruments are located at 13 sites with masts, which are further advanced. Next to the mast is a meteorological site. In the middle of the mast itself there is an elevator, which is used to service machinery and carry out experiments.

The mast helps to measure the temperature and humidity of the air, wind speed and direction, optical and turbulent parameters, atmospheric pressure.

Monument to an outstanding scientist

Sights of Obninsk and the surrounding area have many monuments to famous people. One of these monuments is a sculpture depicting Igor Vasilyevich Kurchatov. The sculpture is an image of the world famous nuclear physicist, cast from bronze. On Triangular Square for a long time before the establishment of the monument was laid a stone with an engraving, indicating a place for the future sculpture. But here because of the intimacy of sculpture, it was impossible to arrange a tourist attraction. Therefore, they installed a sculpture on the street named after Kurchatov.

The unofficial castle of Dracula

Sights of Obninsk and its environs also have modern facilities - Dracula's castle is one of them. This is not a real estate of the well-known count, but a microdistrict, in which a residential complex is combined in a modern style and buildings of the times of the Soviet Union. On the sides of the buildings are "wings", as they are called. The castle looks like a popular Romanian object. Therefore, the attraction and has the aforementioned name.

If you climb a meteorological tower and look at the castle from there, you can see near the house three houses resembling sixes. Too superstitious people are afraid to buy housing in this complex. Under the strict guidance of the architect, who was building the Dracula castle, several more houses were built in Obninsk.
