Magnetic sheet is a material made of a special polymer mixture with the addition of magnetic powder, which occupies up to 70% of the volume of finished products. This is a fairly flexible material, the magnetism of which is determined by the amount of powder present in it. The thickness of the sheet also depends on this.

Main characteristics of magnetic sheets

Magnetic sheets do not contain toxic substances, therefore they belong to the eco products. They are not subject to corrosion. The possibility that the sheets are amenable to easy machining has increased the use of this material. It is easily subjected to cutting with a knife or scissors, die-cutting, drilling. Being a moisture-resistant material, it easily withstands temperature changes, the range of which can range from -30 to +70 degrees. Sheets have high strength and wear resistance, which allows this material to be used for a long time. If necessary, they easily deform, without losing any properties.

Magnetic sheets are available in various thicknesses: 0.4 mm, 0.7 mm, 0.9 mm, 1.5 mm.

Types of magnetic sheets

The main varieties:

• Magnetic sheet with an adhesive layer;
• Lack of coverage;
• With vinyl PVC coating.

The sheets with an adhesive layer are most often used.

Magnetic sheets with the presence of an adhesive layer

As already mentioned above, an elastic material with a ferrite coating is used to manufacture this product. The magnetized material remains only on one side. The second side has a coating of adhesive, to which, as a rule, a printed sheet is attached. In simple terms, a magnetic sheet with an adhesive coating is a two-layer material, one layer of which is magnetic vinyl, and the other layer is an adhesive coating, the presence of which allows you to easily attach the image printed on a plain paper to the surface, but you first need to remove the film.

Application area

Magnetic sheets have found wide application in conducting various advertising campaigns. They are used in universities to visually place educational material in lectures for students.

Of these sheets are made magnetic cards, as well as magnets with the application of this or that information (all known magnets on the refrigerator).

Puzzles and various souvenirs are made from sheets with an adhesive layer.

Due to the absence of lead in the magnetic cloth, adhesive-coated sheets have also been used in children's institutions during events that have a general educational direction.

Used in the manufacture of magnetic calendars and notebooks, to create all sorts of games that contribute to the development of the child.

Albums for photos with magnetic sheets

Their pages are sheets with a gluey coating that is covered with a transparent film fixed on the outer edge of the sheet. Pictures are attached to the page with a film that is as if magnetized to the sheet. It should be noted that the back of the photo is not glued, because the image remains in full safety.

To place pictures on the sheet, you must turn off the transparent film and arrange the photographs in the desired form and order. When unfolding the pictures, it is necessary that there is a small free field around the perimeter, otherwise the film will have nothing to stick to. After the desired photos are placed on the page, it is covered tightly with a film. This should be done in such a way that no air bubbles remain, no folds appear. To avoid such formations, when gluing a film, it must be tightened with one hand and the second one from the rib is gradually pressed against the sheet. If the first time failed to produce a smooth pasting, the film must be separated and repeat this process again.

Despite the fact that manufacturers are convinced that the photos under the film can be changed several times without changing the quality of fixation, this is not recommended, unless there is an urgent need. Customer feedback indicates that the stickiness is deteriorating with each passing time.

Pros of magnetic albums

A lot of them:

• It is an opportunity to have pictures of different sizes in the required sequence;
• Pages have a thickness approximating the density of cardboard album sheets;
• Images can be placed under the desired slope;
• Under the photographs, it is possible to place various inscriptions printed on a separate paper, as well as other design elements, for example, scrapbooks or cartoons;
• The possibility of placing copies of necessary documents together with pictures, for example, about marriage or the baptism of a child.

Disadvantages of magnetic albums

The album with magnetic sheets has some drawbacks:

• When the images are often taken out, the tackiness of the film deteriorates;
• Higher cost compared to regular albums;
• Changing the shape of the film in the course of long-term operation, for example, if you replace a larger picture with a smaller one, there are traces from the previous photograph;
• Change in the color of the adhesive coating over time (appearance of yellowness).
