Principles of making amulets

The process of creating this doll is called kutaniem. He really looks like wrapping a baby in diapers, clothes. Traditional lyolka-motanka is made without using needles, scissors. Cloth and thread are torn with their hands.

In ancient times, the canvas for making dolls was painted with elderberry, beet, nightshade juice. When they made this amulet, the master thought about who would then hand him over. Often the dolls were left in their family and handed over by inheritance.

Now motanka are beautiful souvenirs, in Ukraine they are often tied to the hoods of wedding cars as a symbol of the happiness of the newlyweds.

Getting Started

First, prepare everything you need:

• Pieces of cloth;
• Thread of the right colors;

• Ribbons, various accessories for decoration.

Take a detached monochrome white cloth of rectangular shape, inside it is necessary to put either a bar of rolled cotton wool, or rolled up in the form of a roller fabric. In the latter case, you need to fold the flap several times along to get a 3 to 5 cm wide strip. Now tighten it on one side in the form of a roll. Place the workpiece inside the white rectangular web.

Align its edges. Wrap the canvas with a thread so that the cotton wool or the roll of the fabric turned into the head of the amulet and its neck clearly marked.

Arrange the first vertically, pass under the neck and continue winding in the same way. Let's say the first thread is yellow. From it you make a strip on the center of the face of the doll.

Further, to the right and left of this strip, wind on one more blue color. In this case, the thread is also wound vertically. For the right band, pass them through the left side of the neck, for the left - through the right side.

Lining the blue can vertical strips of blue. Now you need to wind the threads in the same color scheme, only horizontally. To keep them firmer, let them through the vertical rows. So you performed a sacred cross.

Now wind a few rows of white thread around the neck of the doll to hide the previously created weaves and clearly identify this part of the body.

We make arms and torso

The basis for these parts of the body is two white pieces of tissue, one must be larger than the other. Take a small rectangular strip of cloth, wind it from the tube with your own movement. In the same way, decorate a larger piece of fabric. Very soon it will become the backbone of the trunk of the amulet.

Place it vertically, and place a small tube on top, perpendicular to the large workpiece. Take a tangle of white yarn. Twist the tubes together to form a cross. The yarn is wound not only to the junction of these two parts, but also to the whole large tube, which is the base of the body of the doll.

Screw a little white thread on the wrist of the right and left arms of the amulet. Put a head blank on the upper part of the trunk, rewind the thread of the connection of these parts on the neck and under the doll's breast, here the thread is twisted crosswise and horizontally.

Now you can give space fantasy. Ljalka-motanka will turn out very beautiful, if to dress it in a color suit.

In order to make its upper part, take a cloth of cloth with patterns. Cut out or tear off the rectangle with your hands. In this case, the horizontal sides of the figure should be slightly larger than the vertical sides. Mark the middle of the rectangle, cut out on this place a small circle for the head. Further from him to yourself make a continuous cut. It is needed in order that the loin freely fit on the doll.

On the neck of the amulet is necessary to put on a handkerchief. Here you can show imagination: first, tie a light kerchief, then - a bright shawl.
