Lipoma: treatment of neoplasms

Disease "lipoma" is a benign neoplasm consisting of adipose tissue. Usually, the tumor develops in the subcutaneous tissue, however, it can also occur in internal organs that have a fatty layer. For example, a lung or kidney lipoma. The disease is diagnosed regardless of sex in people of senile and adulthood.

Lipoma: treatment and picture of the disease

In appearance, the formation resembles a soft, painless mobile node, which has no adhesions to the surrounding tissue. The size of the tumor is an average of about two centimeters, but sometimes there are lipomas that are huge. In some cases, the nodes may, depending on the weight of the person, decrease or increase, but most often their size does not depend on weight changes, and when losing weight, the lipoma continues to accumulate fat. If lipoma besides fat absorbs and connective tissue, then it acquires a more dense consistency.

Lipoma: treatment and classification

Neoplasms can occur in a single form, but more often have a multiple character. The main zones of localization are the following: the back, the area of the shoulders and the chest, less often the lipoma is found on the abdomen and lower limbs. Nodules can occur everywhere where there is fat tissue, not excluding internal organs (kidney lipoma). Very often a tumor forms on the scalp, behind the ears, on the head, on the face.

The lipoma is located, it can be said, in a capsule, and therefore its malignancy does not occur. And when enlarged, the nodes do not germinate in the surrounding tissues, but push the matter apart, which leads to the squeezing of tissues and blood vessels, thus violating the metabolism.

Classification of the disease depends on the location, the location of the foci, the presence of connective tissue and blood vessels in them. For example, the ring-shaped cervical lipoma develops around the neck and, reaching a larger size, can make swallowing and breathing difficult, provoking, due to pressure on the way of breathing, suffocation attacks. When the lipoma appears in areas where it is squashed by clothing, in the armpit or neck, it can cause pain and maceration.

Lipoma: treatment, symptoms and diagnosis

Usually the disease delivers purely cosmetic problems and does not bring pain, especially if the neoplasms are of multiple character and are on the surface open areas of the human body. Diagnosis of the lipoma of labor is not to recognize the disease, it is enough for the doctor to interview the patient and perform an external examination.

Lipoma: treatment (methods)

With pronounced cosmetic defects, with complaints of compression, the nodes should be removed. The same applies to the ring-shaped lipoma. When the neoplasm reaches large volumes and compresses the tissues, its removal prevents tissue disorders that are subjected to compression.

Electrocoagulation or laser treatment is used to remove the tumor. In addition, resort to new methods of radio wave surgery. After the operation, no scars are left, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia, and complete healing takes place after five days. At the same time, the patient's ability to work is not disrupted, only in rare cases, postoperative complications in the form of edema and suppuration are possible.

In some situations, it may be necessary to surgically excise the lipoma. After this, the histological examination of the material obtained is mandatory.

Lipoma removal is also performed by the puncture-aspiration method, which consists in suctioning the contents of the capsule with a wide-gap needle. In this case, relapse of the disease is possible.

Usually, after treatment, the prognosis is favorable, but the effectiveness of the operation depends largely on the qualification of the doctor.
