Knitting of a braid and a plait on spokes

Knitting a braid or a plait on spokes is technically not a very difficult thing. Only care is needed, because the loops can be moved left to right or right to left, if confused, the pattern will be destroyed.

In principle, the braid and the tourniquet are almost the same. Only braids usually call a pattern of three parts, looking like a braid braided from three strands on the hair, and the tourniquet knits two of them and looks like a rope.

Knitting of the braid (harness) is carried out with the help of an auxiliary knitting needle or pin. To begin with, you need to tie several preparatory rows with face and back loops. As you can see, the scythes knit on the side of the back hinges, because they look more impressive. The simplest thing is a braid or a bundle of two parts, and all other patterns are built on their basis and bound by the same principle.

Option 1. Looping backwards

Go to the edge of the braid from the front loops. Remove the required number (usually half) of the loops on the auxiliary spoke, take it back, for the knitting, and tie the remaining facial loops. Now take the auxiliary spoke and tie the loops on it. Continue knitting.

Option 2. Leading the loops forward

Performed in the same way as the first method, only the auxiliary spoke remains in front of the workers.

In both cases, you will get crossed loops. Knitting a braid consists of crossing the loops from right to left or from left to right. If you want the loops to be crossed from right to left, you move the auxiliary pin forward, and when left to right - back. (It's right if you knit with your right hand.If you know how to knit with both hands and do not turn over the canvas, finishing the next row, then for the left hand everything will be exactly the opposite.)

The next crossing of the loop for knitting the braid is done through several rows. Usually everything is indicated on the diagram or in the description of the model.

When you master the simplest knitting with braid knitting needles, the patterns will be clearer. A special designation is made in the place where the loops need to be crossed. Now we'll figure out how to tie a beautiful scarf with braids.

Scarf with a pattern of "plaits and braids"

The inclined lines on the diagram show which way to cross the loop. In different sources, the notation will be different, but in time you will learn to intuitively understand how crochet crocheting is done according to one or another pattern. Only you need to count the rows.

We have the same:

1 Remove 4 loops and move forward, tie the next 4. Then 4 removed.
2 Remove 5 loops and take them back, tie the next 5. Then 5 taken.
3 Remove the first loop on the working needle without tying. Spray the following two loops and cover the removed loop around them. In the next row, make a crochet.

Crossing of loops does not begin with the first row of knitting and usually ends up also not in the last row. Therefore, the edges of the scarf will be a bit furious. Collect them with a needle or make a fringe.

It takes a lot of time to create a braid. Knitting with openwork patterns or facial / purl loops occurs much faster. But the bundles and braids look very beautiful, especially since there are a lot of variants. We have now dismantled only the simplest patterns with crossed loops.
