Kirov Plant, St. Petersburg. Products of the Kirov plant

Over 200 years, the Kirov Works (St. Petersburg) works for the benefit of Russia. Founded in April 1801 as a small iron foundry, today it has become a multi-industry complex. Plant workers stood at the origins of domestic tractor construction, starting in 1924 the mass production of tractors "Fordzon-Putilovets." In fact, this was the first mass production of energy-saturated wheeled tractors in the USSR. The company also traditionally specializes in the production of powerful turbines and military products.

The beginning of the way

Founded by Paul I in 1801, the St. Petersburg Ironworks of a small enterprise for the smelting of cannonballs over time grew into one of the largest production facilities of the city on the Neva and throughout Russia. During the first 65 years of its existence, the future Kirov Plant (St. Petersburg) changed many names and owners, several times it was actually bankrupt.

The successful history of the enterprise began after its purchase by the industrialist NI Putilov in 1869. Here, one of the first Bessemer conveyors for smelting higher quality (compared to open-hearth steel) was installed. It produced railroad tracks. Over time, the range expanded: the plant produced passenger and freight cars, and after the death of Putilov (1880) - locomotives, ship tower guns, torpedo boats.

On the Threshold of the 20th Century

A glorious history can be proud of the Kirov plant. St. Petersburg in the 20th century became the largest industrial center in many ways thanks to the Putilovites. By 1900, the company was the third largest in terms of production among all engineering companies in Europe and the undisputed leader of Russia.

In addition to military and railway equipment, instrumental steel was smelted here, shells, excavators, crushers, cranes, dredgers, excavators were manufactured. His own machine production was developed. However, it was the Putilov Plant that became the epicenter of the 1905 revolution. The Putilov Shipyard, established in 1912, eventually became one of the national shipbuilding centers, now known as Severnaya Verf.

By the beginning of 1917, 36,000 people were employed at the Putilov Plant. It was a close-knit team hardened by the events of 1905-07. Like 12 years ago, it was the Putilovites who stirred up the empire - they became the locomotive of the February revolution. Their victory was used by the Bolsheviks, who subsequently nationalized the enterprise "for debts to the Russian Republic."

Kirov Tractor Plant

St. Petersburg after the civil war experienced an industrial boom. New production facilities were opened, and the production of innovative products was mastered. The Putilov plant, which was renamed in 1922 as the Red Wanderer, did not escape the changes. The government has made a bold decision to radically change the specialization of the enterprise traditionally focused on railway equipment, fleet and ammunition production.

In 1924, the plant mastered the mass production of wheeled tractors "Fordzon-Putilovets", later it was replaced by more advanced wheeled tractors "Universal". At the end of the 1930s, the name "Kirovets" first appeared on the experimental caterpillar tractors. Their successor, the serial tractor KD-35, was produced in 1940-1950 at the Lipetsk and Minsk Tractor Plants. The present name "Kirovsky Zavod" (St. Petersburg was renamed to Leningrad on 26.01.1924) the enterprise received on December 17, 1934 after the death of a prominent statesman and favorite of townspeople SM Kirov. In the years of the Second World War, despite the blockade of Leningrad, factory workers established the production and repair of tanks and other military equipment. For heroic labor, the enterprise (or rather, its employees) was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War.

From Fordzon to Kirovtsu

July 13, 1962, the first "Kirovets K-700" came out of the shops of the plant, and from this date the modern history of the brand is measured. The first batch of tractors was sent for comprehensive tests in different regions of the country, so that in a year's time the serial machines came off the assembly line. The legendary K-700 was produced until 1975. It was replaced by more advanced models - K-700A and K-701. They were destined to live on the conveyor for more than a quarter of a century and to write many glorious pages in the history of the brand.

Along with mass production of serial models, the plant constantly created innovative developments. Some of them remained individual experimental and exhibition samples, but many were produced serially. And today the products of the Kirov plant (St. Petersburg) are in demand by the market. Modern energy-saturated tractors of the K-744R and K-9000 series have a wide range of models. They are distinguished by high power (300-428 hp for the K-744R series and up to 516 hp for the K-9000 series), versatility, a new level of comfort for tractor operators, and the use of innovative technical solutions. "Kirovtsy" are able to work effectively in conditions that are unbearable for other brands of tractors in agriculture, in construction and industrial facilities. In addition to powerful tractors, the enterprise produces communal equipment, loaders, pushers and other products.

For many years, the Kirovets technique has been leading in the segments of powerful wheeled tractors, front loaders with a carrying capacity of 6 tons and special-purpose machinery based on tractor modules.
