Ixodes Ticks

At the beginning of April, up to 30 bitten people were registered in hospitals in the Irkutsk Region, among them 7 children. In Omsk region, the first bitten was registered on April 11, but applied 2 days after the bite, which was undesirable, because in case of a bite in a medical institution, for prevention, it is necessary to apply within the first 3 days after the tick bite.

Where is it not, will appear, whatsoever to detect on the body of a tick?

It is known that ixodid mites love moisture and warmth, as well as shady places. It is also easy to pick up mites on forest edges, near the shores of forest streams and overgrown forest trails. It should be noted that it is in these places that there are many more ticks than in the forest itself. Consequently, a high risk of encephalitis infection prevails in the following places: meadows, ravines, river valleys, deciduous forests. Often there is such impression, that the mites jump on the person from wood plants. The tick that clings to the pants, jacket, creeps up, and the person discovers it on the shoulders, neck, head. Large activity of ticks is observed from the beginning of May to the end of June, depending on the climatic conditions, after the mites are simply dying from lack of nutrients.

How does the tick manage to catch us?

Ixodid mites, located at the ends of grass blades, sticks and twigs, with the help of the organ of Geller catches the smell of the victim, and instantly pounces, clinging to clothing, skin, wool, with claws and suckers. Then he begins to feed on our blood. It is worth noting that females are most voracious than males - unlike males that feed on nutrients, they can eat up to 6 days, puffing up to the size of the phalanx of the little finger.

Than the mite is terrible?

Mites are a whole problem. The risk of infection with infections with a short-term bite is not excluded. When removing a tick, do not say goodbye to him, but rather save for research on infection with tick-borne infections (encephalitis, borreliosis, and other tick-borne infections). For microscopic diagnosis it is necessary to provide the tick alive, placing it in a glass vial with a piece of soaked cotton wool. It should be remembered that a positive result for an infection does not mean that a person will fall ill. The analysis is necessary for vigilance in case of a positive result, and calmness in case of a negative. Tick-borne encephalitis is the most dangerous tick-borne infection, therefore, prevention is necessary on the first day after the bite. To remove the mite yourself, you need a thread. The knot should be thrown on the proboscis and gently pulled. If its head has come off, then it can be removed as a normal splinter, with a sterile, heated needle. After removal, apply a tincture of iodine or alcohol to the wound.
