How to connect a parking sensor yourself? Self-installation

An interesting fact: one of the most frequent reasons for the occurrence of traffic accidents in cities is the wrong parking in reverse. That's why many cars even in the basic complete sets are equipped with a special sensor - parktronic. In fact, these are a few radars installed in bumper points that scan the distance of the vehicle to the nearest car or some other "obstacle". All indications of this scanner are displayed on the front panel in the cabin. However, we will not disassemble the subtleties of the work of this tool, but just consider how the installation of the parking sensor is done by oneself.

Choose a place

First of all, it is necessary to understand exactly where this or that sensor will work. In fact, it catches the signal at any altitude, however, so that the readings are most accurate, the drivers mount it inside the bumper. At the same time, the power element is removed, and small holes are drilled at several points. To install the parking sensors with your own hands, you need to drill from 2 to 8 holes in the bumper. How many holes will be, depends on the type and model of the parktronic itself. Accordingly, the more sensors, the more difficult will be the installation, because To each of them it is necessary separately to connect a number of wires.

Installation method

Depending on which model is parktronic, installation by yourself can be carried out in two ways. In particular, this applies to the same sensors. There is an invoice and a mortise installation. The latter, by the way, is the most common among Russian motorists. We will use it. To do this, you need to make a few holes in the bumper (for each sensor one at a time), and they need to be drilled with a cutter rather than a drill. It is usually already included in the kit.

Distance

So, we mount ourselves in the bumper parktronic. The installation by one's own hands (again it concerns sensors) should be carried out with observance of a certain distance of these devices. Place them along the perimeter of the impact force element so that they are located evenly from each other. This is necessary for the sensor to be able to recognize the "dead zones", because of which, in general, accidents occur during parking.

With the most difficult part of the installation we have already figured out, now it remains only to connect the necessary wires. Note that the embedded sensors have special sealed connectors, thanks to which it is possible to quickly and easily connect the wires. The latter should be connected to the wires coming from the stop lamp. In principle, after this we will have a ready and functioning parktronic. Self-installation at this stage is complete. In addition, you can make a button to turn off the front parking radar. This is done so that the traffic jam does not screech in the traffic jam when you come close to the car ahead of you.
