Would you like to receive cheap electricity using wind power? I'm sure yes. Then the question arises, how to make an electric generator with their own hands. In order to accomplish the task, it is necessary to draw up a plan for its development, namely:

  • To prepare materials from which the generator parts will be made;
  • Draw up a drawing on which you can make an electric generator;
  • Flick through the physics textbooks for fixing some knowledge about the electrical system as a whole.

Such goals correspond to the installation of a windmill, a wind power supply system. This low-power mechanism is enough to, for example, illuminate the room of a small building or water a garden. The savings in kilowatt-hours are obvious.

Components of an electric generator with wind power

The mechanism of this "mill" consists of four halves of a hollow cylinder, displaced away from the common axis. On the one hand, there is an aerodynamic distortion. The airflow circulating across the axis tends to slip downward. This occurs in the convex part of one of the half-cylinders. The other is turned by a concave gap to the wind and exerts a certain resistance to air. When the wind moves, both halves are swinging, changing places. This creates an acceleration of the mechanism, and the said cylindrical drum rotates fairly quickly.

The electric generator, made in the form of a propeller, must be manufactured very accurately. The above circuit is very convenient in the design and installation. At the same time, the power of such a system is the same as for a propeller with three blades up to 2.5 m in diameter. Cylinders provide sufficient torque. Another advantage of the mill is the absence of a current-collecting mechanism.

To unite the blades in the rotor, you need a cross. It is better to make it out of iron strips with a section of 5x60 mm or from wooden blanks with a thickness of about 25 mm and 80 mm in width. At the edges of the blades with a small indentation, drill holes for fixing them. The entire structure must be mounted on the axle.

What to do with an axis

The power generator, made by yourself, needs to be fixed on some basis. This base is a steel axis having 30 mm in diameter. Before assembling the shaft, it is necessary to find ball bearings suitable for the diameter of the axis. Then the steel cross is welded into it, and if the blade fastening is made of wood, it is glued to the axis and simultaneously clamped with steel bolts M12 into the holes drilled on the crosspiece and pipe. Keep track of the distance of all the blades from the axis, its approximate value is 150 mm. The distance should be the same everywhere.

The last detail of the device is the frame. How to make

Suitable welding of several metal corners or wood. When the frame is made, bearings can be installed. The main thing is that they stand smoothly, without distortion. In the lower part of the axis at its end, thread the connecting belts of different diameters, hooking them by the pulley. It remains to connect the belt ends with some current generator, for example, from the car. The design is ready.
