Dimensions and standard depth of the sliding-door wardrobes

Gone are the days when furniture was bought only in stores. And bought the one that was available, but not which I would like to see at home. In the modern world more and more people make furniture according to individual order, according to their size and according to their desires. This applies to the closets.

Standards when choosing the size of the wardrobe

When preparing furniture, it is first of all to think about functionality and practicality. And only then about aesthetics. That is why the closet should be carried out according to generally accepted standards, or to approach them. In the age of individual design, one can not speak of "generally accepted standards". Author's furniture is not customized to standard sizes. There are only general criteria to be followed.

Height is calculated based on the average person's height. The approximate height that a standing person can reach is 2.1 m. At this height, naturally, it is better to put things that are used rarely.

Here are some general dimensions for the manufacture of cabinets:

  • Height of the cabinet is 2,4-2,5 m;
  • Standard depth of the sliding-door wardrobes - 0,6 m;
  • Shelf width - 0,4-1 m (if more, can bend);
  • For the shoulders the length of the pipe is 0.8-1 m so that it does not bend;
  • Useful depth of the closet (standard depth of shelves) - 0,5 m;
  • Between the pipes for shoulders with short things height of 0.8 m, with long ones - 1.6 m;
  • The drawers are 0.1-0.3 m in height, 0.4-0.8 m in width.

Material as a starting point for determining the dimensions of furniture

Choosing the dimensions of furniture, you need to decide on the material. After all, building materials (chipboard, fiberboard) are produced in standard sizes. For example, sheets of particleboard have only three formats: 2,8х2,07 m, 2,75х1,83 m, 2,44х1,83 m. Given the overtaking of the sheet, which is made before cutting, even from the largest sheet, it is impossible to make the height of the part More than 2.74 m. This relates to the height and width. The depth of the built-in cabinet does not depend on the selected material.

There are methods of connecting different parts of smaller sizes. It is possible to assemble several separate cabinets, which will be closed by a common sliding door. In this case, account should be taken of the width of the sliding system, which will be installed between the parts.

Calculating the depth of the cabinet

The standard depth of the wardrobe for clothes is 0.6 m. It depends on several factors that should be taken into account at the design stage.

The standard depth of the sliding-door wardrobes provides convenient operation and at the same time a good capacity. If the depth is too large (0.8-0.9 m), getting things lying near the wall will be inconvenient. And, conversely, if the depth is within 0.3-0.4 m, many things can not be folded into it, and some may not fit at all.

For shallow cabinets is characterized by poor stability. Especially at high altitude. Such products must be additionally fastened to the wall. Therefore, the minimum depth of the closet is 40 cm. Anything less is useless to use.

The next factor is the hardware used. The standard depth of the closets, which will actually be used, is approximately 0.1 m smaller than the dimensions of the product. This is the distance you need to install a sliding system.

Determination of the dimensions of the wardrobe for the arrangement of the niche

The most carefully you need to approach the calculation of the dimensions of the closet, which will be located in a niche. The complexity is also due to the fact that not always the walls are completely level and have a right angle. In this situation it is important to leave gaps between the product and the walls.

It is necessary to measure the width of the niche over the entire height. For calculations, a smaller size is chosen. From this size, it takes away 1-2 cm from the gaps. Next, the angles are checked. They must be necessarily direct. If this is not the case, the gap between the product and the walls must be increased at least twice. There are even special programs that help to determine whether the cabinet will fit into an uneven niche.

For internal filling of the cabinets built into the niche, it is necessary to choose the largest dimensions for height and width. To fit the edge from the wall of the shelf, to their size add another 3-5 cm.

The height of the closet can be almost up to the ceiling. It is important only to leave within 10 cm. This is due to the fact that the product is going in a prone position. And if the height is chosen equal to the height of the room, then the cabinet simply can not be lifted.

In niches, as well as in any other places in the room, the standard depth of the wardrobes is chosen.

Rules for calculating the size of doors

To calculate the doors in the closet you need to measure the opening. The height of the door is smaller than the height of the opening by 40 mm.

The width of the doors of the wardrobe depends on their number. Doors slightly overlap each other. Therefore, for each such overlapping place, add 2 cm. In the case of two leaflets, the width of each will be calculated as follows: add 2 cm to the opening width and divide by 2. The calculation is also carried out for three doors: add 2 cm to the opening width And divide by 3.

Dimensions of the internal filling of the sliding door wardrobe

Having determined the dimensions of the product, you can proceed to the internal filling of shelves, drawers and bars. Divide the cabinet into any number of vertical sections of different widths. The standard option is a separate compartment behind each of the doors.

When calculating the filling, it is important to take into account the thickness of the material. As a rule, choose a chipboard, the thickness of which is 16-18 mm. Several partitions - and you can "lose" 5-6 cm.

If the wardrobe has two or three doors, there will be "dead" areas outside their frames. It is important in such places not to plan sliding elements.

Calculating the depth of filling, it is important to take into account the size of the door mechanism (about 10 cm), handles and hinges. For example, if the standard depth of the sliding cabinet is chosen to be 60 cm, the length of the guide for the drawer can be only 45 cm, since there is a handle and a face loop.

The width of the boom compartment should be at least 0.55 m, regardless of how the hangers will be placed. The height depends on the height of the person and can vary within the range of 1.5-1.8 m. The existing special fittings, such as a pantograph, allow you to raise the bar to a greater height.

If a chest is to be placed inside, its height is selected within 1 m. The depth is chosen so that the handle of the drawers fits. The handle of the standard type is left 25 cm. If the handle is not cut-in and does not protrude beyond the front panel, then the depth of the chest should be less by 10 cm of the depth of the whole product.
