DeCle - is the creator of rap in Russia or the lucky one, who just got lucky? The history of the ascent of the star of hip hop culture

Modern youth sensational in the early 2000s hits "The Party" and "Blood My Blood" do not give an answer to the question: "What is DeCle?". But the grown-up teenagers of the Pepsi generation with a slight note of nostalgia remember how they lit up in discotheques for the singles of the first rapper of Russia Cyril Tolmatsky, known under the pseudonym "DeTsL".

In the late 90's - early 2000's, there was no concept of rap culture and hip-hop industry in Russia as such. Individual collectives ("Bachelor Party") with varying success promoted the direction of a little-known musical genre. But one day on the air of the MTV channel the video "Tears" of an unknown artist appeared enchantingly under the nickname of DeTsL. This event marked a succession of rapper's subsequent hits and involved millions of Russians in the number of fans of rap genres and hip-hop.

The artist's popularity grew exponentially. All the radio stations and musical airs twisted the hits of the young musician. For ten years, beginning rappers of Russia have desperately tried to squeeze themselves into the elite of music, DeCle did it for a couple of hits.

The albums "Who You" and "Street Fighter" not only crossed the milestone of a million copies sold, but also brought hip-hop artist numerous awards (including TV channels MTV and Muz-TV). Pepsi made DeCla the face of an advertising company, and young people tried to imitate the idol, buying pagers and players, dressing in broad jeans, T-shirts with inscriptions and braiding dreadlocks on their heads.

It became fashionable to read rap music - the philosophy flourished with the musician's light lyrics, as DeCle is not just an author and performer of memorable hits, but also a pioneer who gave the post-Soviet space a new culture.

But with glory hayters and troubles come: envious persons whispered behind their backs that the popularity and brand of the rapper is nothing but the campaign bought by Cyril's father. Senior Tolmatsky - an influential person on the Russian musical Olympus, a producer who promoted Oleg Gazmanov and "Combination", did not hide that he was interested in the success of his son and engaged in his PR. Acknowledgment of the father has touched Cyril who considered, that ДеЦл is exclusively his creativity.

The conflict led to the severance of creative relations.

Subsequent albums of the new DeTsla (increasingly performing under the all-know Le Truk) did not have such an excitement in Russia. They are a mixture of genres of reggae, dance-hall, trap, hip-hop. Kirill Tolmatsky went deep into the underground, but the status of the first rapper of the country entrenched with him forever.
