Combin-Duo - drops for eyes and ears

"Combin-Duo" is used locally in ophthalmology and otolaryngological practice. Active substances - ciprofloxacin and dexamethasone. Auxiliary components: mannitol, benzalkonium chloride, hydroxypropyl betacyclodextrin, edetate disodium, hydrochloric acid, water for injection.

The active ingredient ciprofloxacin provides antimicrobial, dexamethasone - anti-inflammatory effect.

The first is active in relation not only to the multiplying, but also to the resting Gram-negative microorganisms.

Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid, used more as an immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory agent. The component is able to reduce proliferation and permeability of capillaries, cellular infiltration, local exudation, fibroblast activity and collagen deposition, inhibits the formation of scar tissue.

It is indicated for inflammatory processes in the eye, keratitis, subacute and acute conjunctivitis, blepharitis and other diseases of the eyelids. The drug is also prescribed for anterior uveitis, for therapy and prevention of various complications after eye injuries, surgical interventions. "Combin-Duo" is used for inflammatory diseases of the ear. The drug is prescribed for acute otitis media (external and secondary).

Contraindicated medication for herpetic keratitis, pregnancy, tuberculosis, lactation.

In case of eye inflammation, one to two drops are recommended per conjunctival sac. Instillation (instillation) is carried out in six to eight hours. It is allowed on the recommendation of the doctor during the first two days to perform instillation every two hours. Duration of therapy from five to fourteen days with blepharitis and acute bacterial conjunctivitis, from two to four weeks with keratitis. For preventive purposes (after surgery and to prevent inflammation) it is recommended to use Combinil-Duo from five days to a month.

In the treatment of ear infections, the drug is instilled into the external canal (ear) of the affected organ for a period of two days twice a day.

When applying the drug, there may be burning, corneal infiltrates, itching in the eye, redness, conjunctivitis, facial edema or eyelid, keratitis, foreign object sensation, blurred vision, photophobia, optic nerve damage, glaucoma, dry eyes, development of infection (secondary) Cataract, thinning of the cornea, rash on the skin. When used in ear diseases, in some cases, there is discomfort, pain, itching, ear congestion.

In case of an overdose, it is possible to develop erythema, spot keratitis, itching and edema of the eyelids, and increased lachrymation. We recommend washing with water, stopping the use of the drug, symptomatic treatment.

It should be noted that prolonged use of the drug helps to increase pressure (intraocular), accompanied by damage to the optic nerve and other negative consequences.

The use of corticosteroids often aggravates the symptoms of acute purulent ophthalmic infections.

Patients using contact lenses should be removed before instillation; Install the lens back recommended after twenty minutes.

When using the "Combinil-Duo", patients' opinions often agree that the drug should not be used for more than seven days. At the same time, many believe that the drug is quite effective in the postoperative period, when treating inflammation of the eyes.
