Cherry: diseases and pests of wood

In Russia, half a century ago, cherry was one of the main fruit species. Her popularity was explained by the ease of reproduction and unpretentiousness. Cherry seedlings grew annually in large numbers. The most famous and popular at that time were such varieties as Lubsky and Vladimirsky. The latter, however, was of low-yielding quality and with small berries. But it was vigorous, and the fruits - dark and delicious. But Lyubskaya cherry belonged to slaboroslyh varieties, but it was distinguished by high yield and large berries.

Cherry: diseases and pests

But, unfortunately, from Scandinavia the previously unknown for the European part of Russia disease of a cherry was brought - it is a coccomicosis. It is a fungal disease that affects the leaves of a tree. There is a premature leaf fall. Trees for wintering go unprepared and can be damaged even by a slight frost. In a few seasons such plants become very weak, and in one of the following winters they simply die. To this disease, all the old varieties of cherries in Russia were unsustainable, so the breeders brought out new species that are more enduring, but still can be affected by coccomicosis. And if there is a massive defeat of trees, then the fungicides must necessarily be treated with cherries. Diseases and pests are destroyed by the drug "Skor". You can use Bordeaux liquid and copper chlorooxide, but in the fight against coccomicosis they are less effective.

Klyasterosporiasis (a holey spot) is a fungal disease. It affects flowers, buds, fruits, shoots, but most of all it is noticeable on the leaves. Affected flowers bloom, and the kidneys die. On the leaves appear patches of reddish-brown color with a lighter part in the center. Then these areas fall out and holes are formed. On the diseased shoots, red spots also appear, which later turn into ulcers and cracks that release the gum.

Cherry blossom is a disease that manifests itself in late May. The leaves and fetuses with which black raids occur are affected. This is another of the fungal diseases that suffer from cherry. Diseases and pests mainly affect the leaves, and with scab, they begin to bore, curl up into a tube, then dry out and crumble. To fight at the first sign of the use of funds "Toxin-M", "Kuprozan", copper chlorooxide.

Pests of cherries

This includes: plum moth, cherry and bird cherry weevils, aphids, subcrustal leafworm, hawthorn. And a whole series of sawfly: pale-legged cherry, cherry mucous and cherry public. Among the drugs that are active on all of the listed pests, you can name the following: "Amush", "Actellik", "Carbophos". Spraying should be carried out as soon as you notice the appearance of these insects, and after 12-15 days the procedure must be repeated.

If you are not a supporter of the application of chemistry, you need to attract birds and useful insects into your gardens that will destroy pests. To do this, plant dill, flowers, burdock, dandelions and so on. And birdhouses are hung up by birdhouses. In the autumn, birds can completely clear your garden of most pests. Also used infusions and decoctions, which are prepared from tomato and potato tops, burdock leaves, onion husks, yarrow, chamomile, dandelion and calendula. It is clear that if folk methods do not help, then only cherries are saved by chemical preparations. Diseases and pests should be destroyed at least 20 days before the harvest is harvested. But it is best to track the first signs of disease and dispense in more natural ways, without exposing the environment to a chemical attack.
