Arranged so people: they want to know what will happen, or Guessing "When I get married"

Dreams of a happy family life begin to disturb the girls' hearts almost in their teens. And then, with a sinking heart, young ladies begin to look for grandmothers and great-grandmothers, cherished notebooks, albums where you can find different ways of guessing, or they are asked about by elderly relatives. And becoming an adult, quite self-sufficient and business ladies, women who did not organize a stable personal life, no, no, and they are trying to lift the veil of the future in the hope of getting a cherished engagement ring on their finger.

Ancient fortune telling

Divination "When I get married" exists since time immemorial. Our ancestors, who observed various phenomena of nature, associated various types of it with different events of human life. Something was subsequently fair, confirmed by statistics (which the people themselves did). Other ways of guessing have come down to our days as mischievous jokes. Let's look at some examples of both. After all, they are our history!

Fortune-telling "on Andrew": a dinner party

Since ancient times in Russia, the girls have been performing a ritual-divination "When I Will Get Married" on the night of December 12 at 13 - on the feast of St. Andrew the First-Called. It was believed that these 2 days have special magical properties, full of magical mysteries of the forces of nature and higher forces. Therefore, in order to learn about the happy changes in her destiny, the girl should have fasted beforehand, and on the eve to visit the bath: before the rite, both the soul and the body should be clean. But to ask from the Most High was possible on the highest level - both on the appearance of the groom, on his material solvency and on a good future kin. Very popular was the divination "When I get married": an invitation to the future spouse for dinner. To do this was to be done solely in solitude, in silence, dismissing his hair, taking off his belts, rings, earrings and everything that at least would be associated with the circle. On the naked body it was necessary to put on an ordinary spacious shirt. A table was laid in a room with a tablecloth, 2 appliances were put (without forks and knives), and the girl sentenced "Sustained-mummer, for a call, come to dinner". Doors-windows must be closed indoors. It is believed that this is a very serious fortune-telling. "When will I get married?" - the girl asks the otherworldly powers, and only a brave and resolute person will dare to do this. And if she is destined to change in the near future, the stranger will appear at the call. Behave at a meeting you need to be very careful, not to be frightened by strange knocking and gusts of drafts, to be silent and listen carefully to the guest, trying to properly consider it. And after asking the name of the future bridegroom, the ghost should be sent home, exclaiming: "Chur me."

Guessing with a towel

The answer to the question "will I marry" a fortune telling with a towel. The rite is also held from 12 to 13 December. Behind the window or on the balcony, just at the front door you need to hang out a towel for the night. Sentence of such words should be: "My betrothed, come to visit, wash your cloth"! In the morning the duck was checked: a damp cloth, so this year there is a girl in wives. Dry - means another year of parental bread is.

Fortune-telling on the ring

For very young girls who watched with interest the sitting of older sisters and themselves wanted to join the adult world as quickly as possible, there was a special divination "How much will I marry?" It's quite simple. In the glass is collected ordinary water - more than half. A smooth ring is fastened to the thread, without a pebble-type of engagement. The ring should be lowered into the glass by the number of years of the girl, then lifted slightly above the surface of the liquid. How many times the decoration will hit the walls of the glass, after so many years and put on her head a veil.

So good luck to you, future newlyweds!
