Arc welding: safety requirements

Modern technology in a relatively short time made a rapid ascent to the heights of progress. Nevertheless, many manufacturers still use more familiar materials. Arc welding is often used to connect this large number of metals used.

The presented process of joining parts can be manual or automated. The most important goals pursued by the manufacturing plants are mechanization of technological processes, as well as their automation. This allows you to significantly increase the productivity and quality of products. The most complete conversion data reflects automatic arc welding. With this type of welding, the welding speed is significantly increased and the human factor is almost completely eliminated. In contrast to automatic, manual arc welding is more laborious, complex and energy-consuming. A specialist welder must be highly qualified and have sufficient skill. Also an experience of work in this field is important.

The main feature that arc welding possesses is the possibility of automation of processes, as a result of which they pass several times faster. In turn, the mechanization of technological processes requires appropriate preparatory work. It may be necessary to install additional materials, however, arc welding does not need modernization.

During welding, special safety rules must be observed . The main possible hazards that may arise during the operation of the device are: optical exposure, electrical and fire hazard.

The category of optical interaction refers to protection from the negative effects of an arc discharge on the person's eyes. This is manifested in the use of special masks and glasses. Modern technology allowed to produce a mask-chameleon, which can regulate the degree of transparency. Arc welding, which results from the use of these protectors, produces high-quality welds under safe conditions for the welder.

Electrical safety makes it possible to avoid accidental contact with current-carrying parts. However, not only arc welding is a possible source of electrical current. Before starting work, a thorough inspection of the insulation of wires and contacts should be carried out. It is necessary to use special protective equipment (such as overalls: bots, mittens, helmets).

It is forbidden to work under snow, rain. It is not recommended to perform welding operations in conditions of high humidity. And this requirement applies not only to street conditions, but also to the characteristics of the environment inside the premises. For example, boiler rooms, cellars and cooling towers.

Fire safety includes the exclusion of the possibility of burns with special clothing, gloves, shoes, masks and protective screens.

Special safety means protection from accidental explosions, exclusion of negative influence on respiratory organs, protection during high-altitude work.
