Application of "Izospan" for steam insulation of roofs and walls

Izospan has been increasingly used to protect against condensation of walls and roofs of residential buildings. This material is good because it is mounted on the outer surface of the walls, while it is closed by any facing material and does not "steal" the interior space of the rooms. Therefore, the use of Isospan for several years in a row is almost the standard procedure of any self-respecting construction company.

This material is produced in the form of a film, the outer side of which has pronounced water-repellent properties, and the inner surface has a rough structure designed to retain the droplets of condensate, which are subsequently released into the environment. Thus, the use of "Isospan" guarantees full protection of the insulation layer from wetting.

In addition, the general characteristics of the insulation itself in this case are also significantly enhanced, and its service life is greatly increased. Given that the production of this vapor barrier is carried out using the most modern polymers, it has the following advantages:

  1. Retains all its technical characteristics for a long period of time.
  2. It does not emit any harmful substances into the environment (however, the isospane does not emit anything at all).
  3. Extremely easy and convenient to install.
  4. Has high tensile strength, not having analogues on this indicator.
  5. In addition, the use of "Isospan" guarantees the insensitivity of thermal insulation to the action of fungi, mold and even aggressive chemical media.

If the roof is insulated, the material is rolled up and fixed directly over the insulation. Quite often there is a question about which side to put Isospan. We answer: it is necessary to turn the smooth side outward, and also lay the material overlap. The overlap of the canvas at the junction should be at least 15 cm. Do not forget that near the ridge you need to leave a gap of about 7-8 cm, having a ventilation function.

The fixing of "Isospan" is carried out with the help of wooden slats impregnated with a quality antiseptic compound for wooden structures.

Although the vapor barrier "Izospan" has a fairly good mechanical strength, it should be fixed with extreme accuracy: a couple of extra holes will cause the moisture to get on the heater, provoking its decay and spoilage.

In no event should we forget that there must be a ventilation gap of at least 3-5 cm between the film and the heater, otherwise the condensate accumulated on the reverse side will not evaporate, remaining in the layer of the heater. It is very important: the use of "Isospan" implies that the material should be fixed strictly in a stretched state, leaving a minimum slack for temperature expansion. This will prevent contact of the film and insulation, which leads to the formation of a "bridge", through which the condensate leaves back into the layer of heat-insulating material.

The lower edge of the vapor barrier must go into the drain channel, along which the accumulated water will be discharged into the external environment. The same space under the roof should be provided with normal ventilation for the timely removal of part of the condensate. For this, a number of ventilation openings should be provided.
