Why do Muslims talk to each other "Jazzaklahu hayran"?

Muslims around the world are trying to live according to the Sunnah - the rules and norms followed by the Prophet (sas), that is, doing charitable deeds. One of them is to thank a person if he has done you something good, and to say at the same time: "Jazzaklahu Khayran". What does this expression mean and why do Muslims use words from the Arabic language in their speech, not being indigenous Arabs?

Why is the Arabic language so important for Muslims?

The origin of Islam as a religion occurred among the Arab tribes, and therefore the Arabic became the language of worship, as Latin among Catholic Christians and Church Slavonic among the Orthodox. This means that every religion has its own language, which is its distinctive feature and allows to separate it from other religions. In Islam, the main worship that requires knowledge of the Arabic language is prayer, a fivefold prayer performed by all people who have reached a certain age, and an adhan is a call to prayer. Why?

  • Reading Namaz in Arabic allows you to unite Muslims around the world: they all perform prayer as prescribed by the Prophet Muhammad (a.o.).
  • The Arabic language in azan allows you to learn the call to prayer anywhere in the world and not miss it, as it is considered a sin.

The words of namaz are suras from the Koran, and Allah in the Holy Book says that he will keep this Scripture unchanged until the Day of Judgment, and therefore it was preserved in its original form, since something is forbidden to edit.

Thus, the Arabic language has two important functions:

  • Preservation of religion and scriptures unchanged;
  • Unite all Muslims of the world into a single whole.

This explains the importance of the Arabic language.

What does "Jazzaklahu hayran" mean?

Understanding the value of the Arabic language for Muslims and the desire to follow the actions of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.), one can easily explain the use of non-ritual words and expressions in this language, such as "Bismillah", "Subhan Allah" or "Jazzaklahu hayran" .

In Arabic, these words are of great importance, and Muslims believe that their use is considered a good deed, for which the Almighty gives a reward. Therefore, at any convenient opportunity, they try to pronounce them.

What does "Jazzaklahu hayran" mean? This expression translates as "Yes, Allah will reward you with good!", Or "May Allah give good!", Or "May Allah reward you with good." It is a popular phrase for expressing gratitude, identical to the Russian "thank you" or "thank you." This form of treatment is acceptable for men.

If they express their gratitude to the woman, then they say "Jazzaki Hlyran", and if several people - then "JazzakumuLahu hayran". It is permissible to shorten expressions to the words "Jazzaklahu hayr" (JazzakliLakhi / JazzakumuLahu haer), and also use without the word "hair".

Sometimes Muslims use these words in writing, and here there is one important point - in Arabic, some words change the meaning to the opposite, if you change their spelling. Therefore it is important to know how the "Jazzaklakhu hairan" is spelled with Russian letters and with the transfer of exact transcription in Cyrillic alphabet - a merged spelling and necessarily the name of the Almighty with a capital letter. There are also two other options - "Jazz klahu hairan" and "Jazz-ka-Llahu hairan".

What should a Muslim answer if he was told these words?

Gratitude in response to a service or pleasant words is a sign of courtesy, which is also sunnah. Therefore, if a Muslim is told the words "Jazzaklahu hayran", then the same answer should be given in accordance with the gender of the person and the number of people. There is also a short answer similar to the Russian "Mutually", it is pronounced "Wa Yaqi" or "Wa Yaki". Another less common form of the answer is the form: "Ua antum fa jazzaklahu hayran", which translates as "This I should thank you, not you". This form, like the previous ones, varies by birth and by numbers. There is a hadeeth indicating the form of gratitude that can also be used, is "Amal ul-yaum val-leil", which translates as "May Allah bless you. "

The importance of the pronunciation of the words "Jazzaklahu hairan"

In the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, there are many examples of the importance of uttering words of gratitude in response to a service or pleasant words. The example of the verse from the surah "Ar-Rahman" about the importance of gratitude reads: "Are they rewarded for good otherwise than by good?" One of the hadiths about the importance of gratitude was conveyed to Tirmizi, a well-known hadith: "If (if) the one who is done good will tell the one who made it : "May Allah bless you!" (Jazzaklahu hayran!) "- then he will express his gratitude very nicely."

What expressions can Muslims say to one another?

In addition to expressing gratitude, Muslims use the following expressions in everyday life:

  • "Alhamduli Llah" (praise be to Allah!) - it is said for the praise of something or someone, and also the answer to the question "how are you?".
  • "Bismillah" (in the name of Allah!) - words by which Muslims anticipate every action.
  • "InshaAllah" (according to Allah's will / if Allah's will! / If Allah wishes) - words used in stories about future plans and intentions.
  • "Astagfirullah" (may Allah forgive) - words that say, if a person unconsciously made a mistake or a sin, understood it, decided to correct it and asks forgiveness primarily from the Almighty.
