The walls of the uterus are lined with three layers. It:

Endometrium is a mucous membrane that undergoes changes every month. It depends on the phase of the cycle of menstruation. In the absence of pregnancy, the endometrium is rejected by the uterus and withdrawn along with the blood, at this moment the menstrual periods come, which last from three to six days, depending on the physiology of the woman. They can be accompanied by weakness and pulling pains in the area where the uterus is located. If a woman becomes pregnant, the body begins to release hormones that prevent the separation of the endometrium from the walls of the uterus. This is necessary in order for the fetal egg to attach to the wall of the uterus and begin its development. In the first weeks of pregnancy, it is from the endometrium that the embryo receives the necessary nutrition.

Myometrium is the muscular membrane, the main component of the walls of the uterus. The dimensions of the organ during pregnancy vary due to this part of the membrane. Myometrium is a collection of muscle fibers that increase due to the multiplication of myocytes (muscle cells), as a result of which the uterus lengthens 10 times and thickens to 4-5 cm. The walls become condensed in the first half of pregnancy, then the uterus begins to increase, stretching, and to completion The period of the uterine wall in thickness is only 0.5-1 cm.

This is the place of the junction of the vagina and the body of the uterus. The cervix consists of the supra-vaginal and vaginal parts. The body of the uterus in a section resembles a triangle, its truncated lower corner continues into the cervix.

The internal channel of the cervix has glands secreting vaginal mucus, the texture and color of which depend on the phase of the cycle, and also are an indicator of female health. The cervix itself is located in the depth of the vagina, at a distance of about 7.5-15 cm, resembling a bagel with a small hole in the middle.
